Quote:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Sunday that there will not be a government shutdown over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, arguing "there is no crisis."

"Look, there's not going to be a government shutdown. It's just not going to happen," McConnell told ABC's "This Week."

McConnell argued that since President Trump has given Congress until March to work on a fix to DACA, there is no emergency that would require a shutdown.

"I don't think the Democrats would be very smart to say 'we want to shut down the government over a non-emergency that we can address any time between now and March,'" McConnell said "That's a very untenable position."

“"I can't imagine that they want to shut down the government over an issue that's not an emergency," he added.

The Trump administration in September announced that it would end the Obama-era program, which protects young immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally from deportation, with a six-month delay to provide Congress with a window to address the issue.
Fucking turtle. If only his donors wanted a DACA fix... then they’d cram it through like that shit tax bill. Was there an urgent need to cut taxes from coroporations and millionaires/billionaires

So tired of these ass wipes and their March deadline. It’s like a doctor saying without treatment, you’ve got until March. Starting treatment right before you’re about to die is not gonna guarantee survival.

He is inching towards giving Dems what they want. Note his language about addressing it anytime from now to March.

Exactly. They are crazy if they think they can whip up votes for an entire caucus to move the deadline to dec. 22... even then wtf are they going to do after? The tax bill still has huge differences between the senate and House that will be ironed out this week. You think they can really keep the govt open on their own?

“The House should just accept the Senate version and be done with it. After all, they only have until Friday now to prevent a government shutdown,” one tax reform insider tells me.

Genuinely despise this guy! but LOL! the reality is that the last day to come up with a budget agreement is Friday, they do not have the votes = government is closing, it's not really up to him to decide. It must suck to have your party control of every branch of government but yet can't actually fully control it!

Also hello everyone, I've been lurking on here for years! Decided to finally join the conversation, I think December 2017 is finally the year!
