Quote:
Through three presidents over a decade, young undocumented immigrants known as “dreamers” have emerged as a potent political force and the sympathetic public face of the immigration debate.

Since 2012, roughly 800,000 have secured permits from the government allowing them to work without fear of deportation under an Obama-era program. Eighty-six percent of the public favors allowing them to permanently remain in the country. Cultural icons from Barack Obama to Kim Kardashian West have sent messages of support.
Quote:
This month, the dreamers face the biggest test yet of their political clout — a make-or-break moment in their long path to the precipice of becoming fully legalized residents. A loss would mean a devastating return to living in the shadows and the perpetual fear of being deported.
Quote:
This fight could have even greater consequences: Some Democrats have suggested they will not support a must-pass spending bill without a deal that offers the dreamers a path to citizenship. Last week, Republican Reps. Carlos Curbelo and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, both of Florida, added their names to that list. More than two dozen other moderate GOP lawmakers are expected to make similar pledges in the coming days.

If 30 gop reps insist on not voting for a spending bill without DACA provisions, the leadership has no other choice but to cave . You know the freedom Caucus are going to vote against any spending bill regardless.

Not that straight forward. Wait. On Thursday, we will have a better understanding of what might happen.

I have a good feeling about this

1. Trump initiated 2nd meeting

2. Schumer says deal will be DA + border security

3. Admin promise to Flake

4. 25+ house GOPs siding for DA

5. 11th hour

there is just no way though. there's gotta be a tough security provision (no interior enforcement) with the dream act for it to pass.

That's not going to happen. We hate border security as much as they dislike the idea of legalizing us. So, we unfortunately have to give and take.

I say this goes on to 12/22.

I read last week that Durbin was working on something. It’s not going to be a clean DA. It never was.

Yeah, at this point, you should all get the impression how difficult, if not impossible, it is to pass a legalization bill without giving the GOP something it wants. If you are still pushing for a clean bill thinking it is possible, I have some news for you . . .
