Money moves them. We need to ask the big corporations to support us to push harder for them to change their mind I guess.

I know a good amount of folks here are surprised and infuriated that democrats folded. I hate to say it but that opinion article someone posted earlier is spot on.

I don't understand why people here keep thinking that dems have leverage. They only have leverage if the house GOP can't pass budget with rep votes in which case they can offer theirs. If the house passes a budget, the Dems are NOT gonna filibuster spending just to save DACA. They don't want to get blame for shutdown.

They do not need to filibuster; just fight back, stand up and attach the DA. Repubs will not shut down the gvnmt. In fact, they are now able to pass this monstrosity of a tax bill because they allowed continuing resolutions in September and two weeks ago without holding their ground and forcing negotiations well ahead of the holidays. It's unacceptable.

This is very disheartening. The community expects them to stand up for what is right. Families keep being ripped apart; Dreamers- yes, lots of them- are being deported, including those who were not part of Daca, children put in detention, etc. If there ever was a worst time to fail, this would be it. And at Christmas of all times.

The thing is that since 2011 when GOP took control they've needed on average 57 Dems in the House to pass a long-term spending bill. Sure, they were able to pass a CR by themselves last week and they might be able to pass another this Friday but that would be the last one. January they are required to finally pass a long term spending bill.

However, by then leverage would probably be reduced because Debt Ceiling has to be raised soon, too.

Anyway, keep your word assholes.
