Hello.

I am unfortunately not in the DACA category. I do not qualify for it for one of its requirements involve me to be undocumented before June 15, 2012.

However, I have been in this country since 2007. I lost my legal status only a couple months back (I was a H4 recipient). I am not any less American compared to all of you here.

I am undocumented now though. I qualify for every other requirement of DACA except the requirement that involves me to be undocumented before June 15, 2012.

That being said, it seems like Durbin's bill is the only bill that would protect people like me and other undocumented students without DACA. Maybe RACA would be a fix too. The BRIDGE act definitely wouldn't. I am not sure about the new DACA bill that would be released tomorrow but I hope it is inclusive to all of us.

However, I would much rather have Durbin's bill be passed compared to any other bill.

So what are the possibilities of Durbin's DREAM Act passing over the other bills?

You're an H4 dreamer aren't you? Lost your status because you aged out? I think you will qualify for the DREAM Act (if it passes especially because of the court decision that just happened). You are undocumented now and it doesn't specify (to my knowledge) that you had to have been undocumented on a certain date. If you aren't included, rest assured that I (and other DREAMERs) will fight for you.

Since you entered with inspection why don’t you try adjusting through marriage? Probably easier.

It is a big commitment. I have to finish my education. On top of that, while I am okay with marriage, its a big deal for my family, especially in respect to their background and culture. So yeah, unfortunate on that regard...

Why do people think getting married is so easy? With all due respect, if he was getting married, he probably wouldn't be on here. Also if he's a H4 dreamer, he is probably around 21. 21 year olds don't typically get married.

I never said a marriage was easy so relax. I said the immigration process would be easier for him if he got married rather then to wait for a bill that we might not get.

Fair enough. 3 hours ago, I would have said that some legislation was much more likely to pass. But Goodlatte's bill and the court decision make me very skeptical. The court decision especially is huge and I really don't think in a good way.

While in H4 status why did you not switch to F1 since you are in college?

Yeah. He totally should have gone from a status that provided him with the possibility of getting a green card soon to one that was definitely a non immigrant status. I think a better question would be why the hell people like the OP have to wait more than 10 years to even qualify for a green card through LEGAL channels. OP: I'm assuming that you're from a high immigration country like India or China.

I think we as DACA Dreamers have an imperative to help H4 Dreamers.
