A palpably disappointed Dick Durbin emerged from the Senate floor after his White House meeting, saying his group has reached agreement amongst itself, but after the President withheld his agreement, will have to regroup and will not be releasing anything “at least through the weekend.”

“I’m not sure what the next step will be,” a forlorn Durbin said. “The President invited us to -- at his little get together in the Cabinet room -- to come up with proposals and we did. It’s a bipartisan proposal which we’ve worked on for four months in the Senate, and I don’t know what happens next.”

Durbin said a separate group that includes House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn will continue working, and he’ll participate.

When a reporter mentioned that Cornyn said Durbin would be welcome to submit his ideas, Durbin quipped: “Thank you very much for that.”

He said for now, McCarthy has asked for the opportunity to try to reach agreement amongst themselves.

“Kevin McCarthy asked for a chance to move forward with the Jan. 19 deadline,” Durbin said. “We’ll cooperate with him to see what they can achieve.”

You never take the first offer.
Hopefully this is what Trump is doing. Second offer should be a little better for him.

Take out the provisional protection for parents and limit scope to exiting DACA holders?

It's hard to say since we don't have the details of the bill that Trump was presented, but if it does include that protection for our parents, that is something that would probably have to be removed. That even had some of us saying, WTF?
