"We were in bipartisan, earnest, good-faith DACA negotiations before the shutdown," Ryan said on "Fox & Friends," referring to talks over how to resolve the status of immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children”

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.was...eee_story.html

This lying piece of shit

iPhone won’t let me copy the whole article. 50 minutes before the vote and it looks like they don’t have the votes to 60.

I don't understand the point of wanting reassurances from a lying sack of shit like McConnell. When has that man ever upheld his part of the bargain?

Are our senators really so fucking stupid?

lol...lying Ryan. Here's so more of the important parts of the article:

Quote:
“It would be helpful if the language were a little bit stronger because the level of tension is so high,” Collins told reporters outside her office. She said McConnell deserves credit for his offer.

“I think a lot is going to happen in the next two hours — a lot of changes,” said Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.).

“We’re close and I’m hopeful we can get this done in very short order,” said Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.). “We shall see.”
Quote:
The White House has said it supports the plan for funding through Feb. 8 but has been wary of making concessions on immigration. While legislation protecting Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients could probably move through the Senate with Democrats and a handful of Republicans supporting it, Trump has rejected proposals along those lines, and House GOP leaders are under fierce pressure not to bring up any bill that a majority of Republicans would reject.

Other Republicans also saw little advantage in making any concessions to advance legislation that would provide protections for “dreamers” — 690,000 of whom face potential deportation after Trump canceled the DACA program.

Looks like Dems will fold.... I mean idk if it makes sense to keep gov shut if they won’t negotiate with anyone on any deal and nothing will get brought up for a vote / amendment... with that said based on me following twitter this morning. WH is starting to fold. Short have said that they are open to Graham - Durbin if it will go more in-depth about chain migration and give upfront $$$ for the Wall.... take it with a grain of salt as always though

They are lying to get past SOTU. It will be DEVASTATING to have a gov shutdown while Trump is giving a speech about how good things are going...

if they fold now, will they shut it down again on Feb 8th? Won't they start looking like the kid who cried wolf too many times?

If I can read the tea leaves of clapping, sounds to me that Dems aren't gonna budge and that this vote at noon will fail.

The WH is unwilling to compromise. Trump is looking really bad by not coming out of hiding and meeting with Congress. It's DAY 3 of the shutdown and he has yet to meet with them. The WH will start folding soon.
