Quote:
Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said Wednesday that he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will head to the White House this week to talk with President Trump about funding the government, including resolving a fight over the controversial border wall.

Shelby said that he would likely have a better idea on where government funding talks stood after Thursday's meeting, but stressed that lawmakers and the president should not force a partial shutdown of the government next month.

“I would always tell anybody, including the president, it’s not a good idea to shut down the government, period,” Shelby said.

Congress has until Dec. 7 to fund the rest of the government after lawmakers failed to approve seven of the 12 individual funding bills before the end of the fiscal year deadline.

Border wall funding has emerged as the biggest hurdle to getting a spending deal, though Shelby acknowledged Wednesday that other sticking points remain. Democrats also want to add legislation protecting special counsel Robert Mueller to the must-pass bill, though they’ve stopped short of threatening a shutdown over the issue.

The House’s Department of Homeland Security bill has $5 billion in border wall funding and the Senate has $1.6 billion. Though Democrats stress they want to secure the border, they’ve bristled at allowing a concrete structure or including more funding without an immigration deal.

Shelby added that senators and the White House need to figure out “what is doable” on wall funding by the December deadline.

“I can’t tell you,” he said, asked if $5 billion is “doable.”
CR is their only option. Please give us a Christmas gift this year. We've waited enough. Me 15 years now.

Seriously the ONLY way we are going to have a chance at this is if Trump's base really pressures him to deliver on that Border Wall/Technology funding. In order to get that done, he is going to HAVE TO give legal status to Dreamers. I just don't see funding without a compromise. At the moment, Democrats have absolutely no reason to initiate any sort of compromise and they have already indicated that they will let the issue run to 2020. Trump has to be pressured to deliver on the funding! We should go on Breitbart as trolls and rally people up to pressure him big time! All I am praying for is Miller and his radical friends be kept out of the negotiations for just a couple of days and this can be done very quickly!

Remember before he was asking for 25B, now he is asking if 5B is doable, lol. This is why Democrats winning the house is important, they can put a check on Trump.

He has a point, seriously. If D has little incentive to solve any immigration but to block bills, then there are two possibilities:

1) SCOTUS rules DACA to end (good because there is an absolutely urgency)

2) Trump goes full steam on immigration

In the second case, Trump will pressure Senate to take up the issue and keep spinning it on the nees using “Dreamers”, then Democrats will have to deal with the issue

Look at the screenshot I’ve attached on here. I am done arguing with you from now. I will have the last laugh when all Dreamers get GCs soon. I bet you don’t even know who Alan Dornan is because you’re not even a Dreamer.
