yes, when it says "copy of approval notice", it is not talking about the DACA notice, it is referring to a copy of your employment card. That is your approval notice.

Based on your circumstances, yes. That's a logical thing to do.
Attach a formal letter w/ your signature explaining the absence of the approval notice.

However, be prepared for a small chance of getting a RFE or a denial letter from a lazy or mean adjudicator.

In the meantime, you could also file a FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) request to USCIS to get a copy of your approval notice from them while your application is pending. The FOIA takes an average of 6-7 months to process.

Worst case scenario:

If you do the FOIA right now , there's chance you could get a copy of your approval notice back from them just in time for a 2nd try if your DACA renewal gets denied or delayed due to RFE letter.

I renewed 3 times and NEVER included the approval notice. I
Usually include a copy of the back and front of my employment authorization.

It's a good habit to scan your documents for safe keeping. I scan all my USCIS related documents just in case I lost the physical copies.

Smart idea. I will do that when it's renewal time
