WASHINGTON (AP) — House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is rejecting the idea of paying for President Donald Trump’s border wall in exchange for a deal to help hundreds of thousands of young immigrants avoid deportation.

Pelosi said Thursday that wall funding and legal protections for so-called “Dreamers” should not be linked, saying “they’re two different subjects.”

Pelosi, who is seeking to become House speaker in January, said Congress should pass appropriations bills that key committees have already agreed on, along with a separate measure funding the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the border.

Pelosi said agency funding should address border security and does not necessarily include the wall, a top Trump priority.

Her comments came as the House approved a stopgap bill Thursday to keep the government funded through Dec. 21.

Democrats will not do anything until the SCOTUS ends DACA. Bad strategy tho, Trump would probably do full wall for DACA legalization now but he is going to want more in the future once the SCOTUS gives him leverage.

Terrible strategy! These dumbasses know very well no stand alone dreamer legislation will pass, yet they insist on it. Why?

The more dems stall, the more concessions they will have to make, especially if Trump gets re-elected.

I guess Dems are very confident Trump will lose in 2020.

Democrats may think they have the leverage now, but once the Supreme Court rules against us, Trump again will be asking for everything and the kitchen sink in order for a DACA fix.

This could simply end today with both parties getting something out of it. However both sides want it their way or the highway once momentum is on their side.

Democrats offered the wall last year, Drump backstab us by getting greedy, the reason this is not resolve and will not get resolve until 2020 is Miller/Drumpf bs. Wall is off the table.

The reason DACA permits will expire and nothing gets done unitl the next presidency is because the Republicans blew the chance to make a deal, fuck them.

Pelosi:

Wall funding being on the table in a Democratic-controlled House is not likely either, as Pelosi called the construction of border wall "immoral, ineffective, expensive."

Who cares what Trump did, this is December 2018 now. Dems have the chance to make a simple trade... Wall for Dreamer legalization.

Permits will not expire, we live in a time where things can go viral quick. Just imagine the political nightmare that it would be for dreamers to start losing their jobs or even be threatened with deportation and post all about it on social media? Pelosi is on record saying Dems will legalize dreamers, she can't escape it now.

He’s an aged out dreamer so he doesn’t care if our permits expire or not.

They fucked us multiple times already. FWD and UWD are probably still dreaming about dream act.

I now see more members here agreeing with us "redhats" that democrats are fucking useless and spineless and evil in their own way.
