I want to open up a Health Savings Account through my job, the form is titled the Financial Center (Your Indiana Credit Union). They ask questions such as SSN, whether or not I am a citizen, resident or non resident alien. W-8 and W-9 questions. For the nearest relative I put my dad which I feel like may not be the best idea, I haven't submitted it yet. I know it has to be legit as it's through work and connected to the IRS. Do you guys think it's safe if I provide all this information to them and has anyone else created a health savings account?

It’s not uncommon for banks to ask for that information. That information is mostly used for tax purposes. And we’re considered resident aliens

I have an HSA account. It's like a 401K for your health insurance. I you don't go to the hospital often, you will see your money grow and you will not get taxed on it since you will be using it to pay for your health related bills.

My company contributes to my account, so it goes a long way - I much prefer this to FSA tbh.

FSA doesn't get rolled over if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Wrong.

FSAs are very effective when used with a health insurance scheme that has a low deductible ($500 or less).

The rollover features of HSAs are great.
However, HSAs are usually found w/ high deductible plans.

Right.

Why are you so pessimistic and angry? Sounds like you have issues communicating with people. Community colleges offer interpersonal and small group communication classes, it would do you well to enroll in one. You’re welcome in advance.

FSA is weak if you don’t visit the hospital often. Use it or lose it.

FSA is good if you require regular hospital visits throughout the year.

So it’s fine if I register for this? I’m getting surgery so roll over or not it’s fine, I’ll be using it all anyways. I’m also go to a state school in Indiana this Fall, I don’t want any of the information to interact.
