As the government shutdown drags on, senior White House adviser Jared Kushner is having discussions with members of Congress from both sides of the aisle about a potential path forward. A Republican Senate staffer confirmed Kushner reached out to their office and added that a “DACA for the wall” deal was part of the conversation.

This could be a huge win for both Democrats and Republicans.

Jeez not like the house is majority democratic and opinion of McCarthy shouldn't fucking matter at all.

Well they are relevant as long as GOP listens to them.

The problem now however is that Pelosi is the one putting stuff for votes. Only way around her authority would be a discharge petition which would take every single republican currently seated (199) and then 19 democrats.

Back when republicans held 236 seats then yes, those 33 freedom caucus members actually needed to consent to pass stuff along party lines.

The thing is that they were able to control the house from the backseat for 8 years and it might be a shock for them that their votes aren't worth jackshit anymore. If the Progressive Caucus starts making problems for Pelosi then she might reach across the isle into the Tuesday Group but she sure as shit will never court the Freedom Caucus.
