Coursera is always a good place and they only charge a monthly fee for the courses. They partner with highly accredited universities, if you are seriously interested in learning these skills.

Get a book. grab a knowledgeable friend. Never give up. What else is there?

Open your book, read the first chapter, it usually contains information on how to begin. Normally things like setting up, or where to type, or what to do.

Don't worry about messing up, or trying the wrong thing, there are experts here to explain it in detail if you get stuck.

Don't give up, giving up is the worst thing you can do here, and unfortunately it's also easy to do and thus its a very seductive option.

In this day and age, there are so many resources both free and paid that it's impossible not to find what you need.
