Trump said he is doubtful that he would accept a deal that does not include the $5.7 billion in border wall funding that he has demanded, which Democrats have refused.

“I doubt it,” Trump said when asked whether he would accept a deal without the more than $5 billion. “I have to do it right.”

Trump also said that he doubts he would accept a deal that traded the border wall funding in exchange for citizenship for immigrants brought to the U.S. citizenship for a group of immigrants illegally brought to the U.S. as children, known as Dreamers, in exchange for border-wall funding

His approval rating is at all time low. Americans can see how stupid it is to keep the government shut down for a Wall. Don’t forget the majority of Americans favor a path to citizenship for dreamers over a wall.

He'll have to decide between giving DREAMers amnesty or not getting his wall. He'd declare an emergency in the attempt to get his wall, but the courts would stop it. Some of his base might believe his emergency charade, but some of his base will not believe it. At this point, he can't lose much of his base and still win in 2020.

Then again, who knows if he even wants to win 2020 or what his goals are at this point.

After February when it's 100% certain SCOTUS will not take DACA this term, it's going to be one hell of an election season in 2019 and 2020.

If a Democrat wins in 2020, it'll be our job to make sure they keep their word because we all know that Democrats will campaign on DREAMers after SCOTUS strikes down DACA in early 2020.
