Bear with me . About a year and a half ago I did something really really stupid . I kept getting out one of those little payday loans from a few places here and there of which we have a lot here in california. There were $300 each and had gotten an extension from a couple of them. I was paying them off as agreed. But then in Nov. 2017 i got put mandatory Leave of Absence from my job due to my addiction to pain pills which had gotten out of control. and hence was out of a paycheck for a few months . My mental health had also deteriorate and have not fully recovered till this day. With great effort i was able to return to my job a few months there after (early) 2018. Suffice it to say I just buried my head in the sand about those little payday loans i needed to pay back (which total about $2000). I obvious kept getting called via the collection agencies but would not answer . I really want to pay all those little loans back , but I'm really don't know how to go about it. I'm genuinely scared of contacting those places and of what they might tell me. Any advice ?

P.S. I know It was beyond stupid going to those places

If you are already in collections I think you just pay the collector I think you can agree to pay like half. But your credit is already shot and it will take you a few years to get it back up

Yeah. Don’t be afraid, you just have to take steps to get out of collections. One would be to get an agreement in writing that you and the collection company agree to pay a certain amount SO if you call them on the phone and you agree to pay a certain amount ask them to send a letter with the agreed amount and the payment plan . That way another collection company in the future can’t come back and say that you still owe the full amount.

Keep records of your payments (bank statements, cleared checks, etc) showing that you paid on time. And once you paid off the agreed upon amount, have the collection company send a letter that confirms that the debt is paid off. That way if another collection company in the future says you still owe the balance, you can send that confirmation letter to them AND if they still post the delinquent account on your credit report you can directly ask the Credit reporting companies to take them off your report.

The collection company usually sends you a letter that says “hey you owe $2,000, but you can pay $1400 today and pay the debt off. Or pay $625 in two payments. Or $300 over six months... yada yada”. They’ll have a number listed. Call them and like I said above, tell them what you want to do but always confirm it with a letter. Then when you paid off, get a confirmation letter.

Honestly just bite the grip and pay it. $2k is honestly not that bad, so don't be ashamed.
It can only get worse from here.

if you find yourself really scared, just take shot and close your eyes and give them your card and clear it. TRUST ME. I've fucked up way worse lol. You'll feel so relived afterwards. PROMISE.

tell them you're unemployed and got no money...you'll settle for 30% of it if they can give you a letter agreeing to full collection of debt for less. They can't do anything to you.

Thanks so much it's been over a year. If you are the one who impatiently wait for all the discount deals in the market so a site called Amazon Customer Service will always let you know about latest deals

First post since you created this account in Nov 2017 and it's spam? Yikes, these bots are crazy nowadays.
