Hi All,

Went to a NJ DMV to renew my license but for some reason, they couldn't verify something which caused them to open a SAVE case. My latest EAD was renewed Feb 2019.

I've renewed my license at least 3 times and this is the first time it happened to me .I remember reading something like this affected a few people a while back.

Has anyone had any recent experience with this? what is the wait time? any other suggestions I can do in the mean time or just wait it out?

P.S. they told me not to go another DMV because it will push me to the back of the line and wait longer if the person submit a new SAVE case.

Thanks,

The only thing I can think of is your new EAD hasn't been updated on DHS's system. How long before your current license expires?

Yeah, it makes sense. The other DMV would have the same issue and would need to submit a new SAVE case, thus pushing your license renewal to the back of the line

This happened to me about 3 years ago. I believe it often happens if you go soon after your new EAD was issued so DHS didn't have a chance to update. It turned out fine in the end. About a week or so later the DMV called me to come in after it was verified.

As far as I know the only thing you can do is wait. All the DMVs will be using the same SAVE verification.

Thanks for the replies. My EAD was renewed back in Feb this year. One would think 5 months should have been plenty of time for it to reflect in the system.

Funny enough when I check my EAD on the USCIS website to check if I am authorized to work, it shows it as okay.

Oh well, have to wait I guess.
