right but how many people actually qualify for that??? Most of us dreamers were raised here, we can't work legally and wouldn't be able to state our one year work experience. It makes it pretty difficult for any of us to go to Canada other than student visa, that's the best bet I think. It all depends on your major and which country you are from, that will determine how easy or hard it is to immigrate to Canada or any other country for that matter.

I think many of us would qualify if we complete our education, go back to our home countries, work there for a while, then apply.

Well i think it might be worth looking into for those that have some money saved up. in advance for college to give it a try at getting a student permit in canada those permits are much easier to get in canada. once you attend school in canada you would look for a job and your employer would fill out a form
to give you working permits once you graduate and have a while with same employer your chances of permanent residence are very high.

also for those here in the states who are illegal and already possess a 4 year degree and read speak write English good . would just have to receive a job offer in Canada by visiting a Canadian job search page you could find one. then
its just about going to one of the many canadian consulates or embassy and you would more than likely be elgible for permanent residency or work permit which would eventually lead to permanent residency.

i am gonna give it a try once i get my college degree if this dream act doesn't pass soon.

Right I think it is a good option for people who can. But for most of us it will take a while, going back to our home country, getting job experience, etc. Even if you have 4 year degree and you are fluent, they still want you to have a one year of experience, otherwise you won't have enough points. I also agree student is probably best, as long as you got money saved. I am just bitter because I really wanted to go to Canada as a back up but I realized I got 2 years in the Korean army to put in. It's just a looooong way for me to immigrate there, plus they don't accept international students for nursing I believe, niether do schools in the U.S.

Thank you for the breakdown! I've actually been in the UK for almost a year, am immediately applying for a student visa to Canada if I don't get one to study law in the U.S. w/waiver ... but I am considering in the long-term I will apply for an immigrant visa under the skilled workers program anyway to start a new life there & settle, I just want to study law in the U.S. since law has always been my passion & an American law degree offers more opportunities than any others within International organizations, etc which is what I want, a job that combines Law & politics... !

Well, this is definitely a respectable option for Dreamers who are still in high school or college because the Canadian student visa looks the easiest to obtain.

It wouldn't be the worst thing to move to Canada, gain citizenship, then come back to the U.S. and visit.
Or even sponsor family members.

[My mom and I have been discussing me going to school in Canada and working to gain eventual citizenship. That way, I can eventually sponsor her and get her to Canada legally.]

yeah i've thought the same, I wouldn't mind if my family came with me since I could sponsor them eventually but my mom said she is sick of moving & just wants to go back to Mexico & have a peaceful life while my dad would LOVE to go to Canada, Germans are a bit obsessed w/that place...so who knows what will happen if they will stay together or what not

But Vivace if your mom would consider moving there it may be a good option, I think it won't matter where you are as long as your family is together :]
