Reading about people losing their wallet along with their card made me more nervous about carrying it around with me all the time. How many of you guys carry it around with you? Is it ok to just carry a copy of it? I don’t want to go through the hassle of sending a renewal when I have 2 years left just to get a replacement.

You HAVE to carry it with you either you like it or not, its easier to deal with Border Patrol agents.

Apart from that, its required by law to carry it.

And no photos are not valid.

So what if you lose it just request another one to USCIS its easy.

What? People carry around it all the time? Dude, I keep mine at home. Only thing I carry around is my license. I only bring it to when I get a job. I don’t live in a border state though

If you don't live near the border nor are going to be traveling near the border, there's no reason to be carrying it around with you, you're just risking losing it.. You shouldn't be carrying your social security card with you either. Take a picture of your EAD and your SSN card if you don't know the number yet.
