My notice says that I don't have to go to a USCIS bio building for my fingerprints.

It strictly says: "it's okay, we got you and will mail you your EAD cuz we gon use your previous docs, also we keepin' your BIO fee lols "

It wasn't exactly like that but you get my point. I thought I remember reading that we have to anyway go to one and take fingerprints... So my question is, should I expect to travel to my nearby bio office? Or should I just chill and I'll get my EAD through the mail like so?

I wonder because I also didn't write the complete 495 fee from before but apparently, they let it slide... I'm confused

What do you mean you didn’t write the complete 495 fee? If you wrote a check, you could miss writing the exact amount and they will still process it because the check converts to an electronic funds transfer.

It looks like USCIS is waiving ASC biometrics appointments because of the pandemic and since they already have your biometrics stored in the database, they’ll reuse those

Why wouldn't you send the full $495 that's required to renew?

Either way, sounds like you lucked out and got it renewed. Just keep checking your case status or keep looking for a rejection letter via mail.

I remember having to re-do my application again in less than a year, I was really busy back then (ex issues and the like) and I just remembered filling it up again. I think I might have lucked out because I didn't start writing the exact 495 after the fact

Them missing the bio-fee would be a mistake on their end and probably not one they're likely to bother correcting past the lockbox stage.

Waiving biometrics is pretty normal these days due to COVID. They fingerprint who they have to, and waive the biometrics for everyone they have old ones on file for. Previously old biometrics remained valid for 18 months.
