I-130 approved , what’s next

My lawyer is probably going to go over it with me but I won’t see her for 2 weeks since she’s on vacation .
Some background info : married us citizen , unlawful entry (entry without inspection), had daca since 17 so during consular processing wont get 10 yr ban when I depart country

I just went online and saw our I-130 got approved .
Next it is saying it has contacted national visa center and I will be contacted within 45 days .

I am not trying to get over excited cause I know it’s a long process and I just sent the application in July but , is this basically saying that they’re working on setting up the consular process by setting an appointment at the embassy of my home country and that’s why they’re contacting national visa center ?

Does that mean you will have to travel back to your home country embassy? What type of requirements are needed for that to go smoothly. I’m happy for you!

The next steps:

1) USCIS will send your case to the National Visa Center (NVC).
2) The NVC will create a case number and contact you and/or your lawyer via email.
3) Login to the NVC site to pay the Immigrant Visa ( IV ) and Affidavit of Support ( AOS ) fees. - https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx
4) Submit DS-260 online application via the NVC website
5) Fillout and upload I-864 ( AOS ) form via the NVC website
6) Upload financial documents via the NVC website
7) If everything looks complete, NVC will okay your documents and put you in the queue for an interview
8 ) Interview date is scheduled. NVC will contact you and/or your lawyer via email.
9) Go to the US embassy in your home country for the interview appointment
10) If approved, you'll come back to the US as a Permanent Resident

When you come back to the US after your interview, if you have not been married for more than two years, then you'll get the conditional residence (2 year) card.

Considering COVID, and how backed up embassies are at the moment, it is highly unlikely you'll get an interview anytime soon. I hope you're not from Mexico, because the embassy there is the worst. I've been waiting for an interview appointment for the embassy in Mexico since Nov 2019. Back then they were 12 months behind but now they're like 18 months behind, and every day they stay closed they get further behind.

Yeah, the embassy there is also partially closed. They're at least 6 months behind, but not sure how bad it was before COVID.

Interesting so I probably still have another year+ wait time

Yeah, I would plan for at least another year for an interview. Hopefully less, but hard to tell with current COVID situation
