My mother filed for me and it's currently pending. I'm trying to get it expedited citing humanitarian reasons. She's elderly, financially and physically dependent on me. She was recently diagnosed with glaucoma and diabetes and I'm paying all her medical bills. With covid, the company I work for is laying off folks like crazy. If I get laid off I won't be able to support her, pay her bills and pay her rent and that should be "humanitarian" enough. I contacted my local congressman and his Rep asked if I was financially destitute and if I was I need to provide bank statements. I'm thinking I can't do that since statements shows I have a few thousands dollars but everything else still stands. Rep responded fairly quickly and said I needed specific documentation for the expedite so I'm providing all her medical documents and proof I pay rent. Should I get a lawyer and see if I stand a chance with expedition?

What category is this, if it's F1 or F2B you don't exactly stand to gain much by expediting since you have to wait a few years for the priority date to become current and how long I-130 is pending doesn't really affect you (unless it ends up pending for a 5+ years).

Demise, its F2B category. So you're saying that even if they expedite I130 and it's approved, I still have to wait 5 years? There's no way to expedite the process at all?

Yep. You can't do absolutely anything about the fact that you have to wait for the priority date to become current.
