note:
i lived with my parents' family in the philippines until i was 8, then i moved here using like a tourist visa and ovestayed.

PS: don't know if this is the right place to post this thread.

How old are you?

There seem to be a lot of people on DAP in this situation with adoptions. Has anyone tried a private bill before? I think it would be kind of risky in the sense that you would be outing yourself.

Um...I can't really think straight right now, so there's no use in me trying to give advice, but does anybody want to take a look at this and see if it fits?

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2001/938.htm

I'm also confused, when did your 'rents become citizens? Are they natural born or are they from the Philippines and then naturalized? Have you been living with your parents since your birth mother gave you away, or were you adopted by them at age 8?

edit: p.s. *mocks*

And you haven't been through any legal adoption process? You're under 18, so as far as I can tell you are good to go. Get your parents to talk to whoever it is that you need to talk to in order to adopt someone...lol not sure how the process works, but since you are 15 it can be done. There was a poster here before that adopted a couple of teenagers and was able to legalize them and get them their citizenship. Here's a link to her posts: http://dreamact.info/forum/search.php?searchid=156375

You should definitely look into adoption ASAP! I think your parents need to adopt you at the age of 16 or younger, but I'm not positive on this one. Have your adoptive parents consult several lawyers and see if anything can be done for you. Good luck!

Pingpong,I think that couple that was pro-dream adopted outside the US.The link also doesn't work.

Interesting, but it appears that you need to have some things done right NOW.Unrealunknown, you need to have a FULL & Final adoption decree before you turn 16 years of age, everything else should fall into place.Final adoptions can take sometime from what I've seen online & it also depends on the state. You should get the following in order before you turn 16.

-Proof that you came into the United States legally

-A full & Final adoption decree before turning the age of 16 years<-This is the most important

-Hire a lawyer to file the appropriate immigration paperwork & to help out with the process

If you can do all of this before turning the age of 16,it might actually be possible to gain US citizenship NOT Permanent residency.
