I want the Texas judge to kill the fucking thing. You’re welcome to seethe and cope all you want in the replies, but any of the 500 times during the average day that my mind drifts towards DACA, I can’t help but wish that this thing gets absolutely trashed by the courts.

These last few months have been worse than anything during the Trump admin, for some reason. If you ask me, I think that it’s the realization deep down that things have played out and that there’s nowhere to go from here. During Trump’s first few months, the thought of him ending DACA worried me, but I was galvanized by the backlash and support from everyone, from the public to private friends and close ones. And you are going to laugh at this, but late 2017-early 2018 were the most hope-filled days of my life in this country, as the chips were down and even Orange Man seemed like he wanted to help us. Now, if we are left stuck in limbo and nothing is done for us under Biden, the people who typically support us won’t make much of a fuss, because Biden is a Democrat and is the opposite of conservatism and Republicans to these people, so they won’t risk harshly criticizing him for a mere 600,000 people who can’t even vote.

Moreover, the thought of having everything ripped away from me and being told to GTFO is sweet compared to growing old in uncertainty, or living in the shadows. As much as I want to believe that a bill legalizing us is going to scrape by both chambers, I know that this is a pipe dream. Good things like that are a thing of the past. So then it’s a matter of seeing the two alternatives: abandon everything you’ve built upon for 20 years, or continue to live a life where you see everyone around you grow and enjoy all of the benefits this great country has to offer, all while your youth slips away and people wonder why you didn’t live to the potential you appeared to have.

These days, I want it to be over, one way or another.

Amen brother! If nothing gets done by next summer I’m out the following fall. Lived a pretty great life here but I have no qualms about cashing out of this “casino” and living a great life elsewhere. USA is not the only game in town these days. I almost left in 2008 but got caught up in the hope and change / sí se puede garbage. Im not a liberal myself but figured resolving the immigration issue was an obvious solution for both sides of the aisle. Guess it’s not and both sides just rather keep it around. I donno if it’s that the republicans are too mean and democrats too incompetent or if it’s just politically more convenient to keep the status quo. Whatever, the way I look at it soon it will not be my problem anymore.

I understand the frustration, I do! I want to travel so bad!!

I also remember what it was when I couldn't drive or work. I went from working $7.25 (BEFORE taxes) to paying $60K in taxes each year. I cannot be more grateful for DACA. I physically get sick when I see my tax bill but quickly remind myself that it is good to be on this side of the line.

Luckily the work I do is location independent so I’d be taking my 6-figure income with me but it’s bizarre to me that this county would fail to provide a solution and rid itself of the tax contributions we provide.

Not sure if this question was posted for me but the reason I have not left yet is the stupid 10 yr ban. My closest family is here. All my friends. Been here since I was 10. If it wasn’t for the ban I would have left a long time ago. Thank you Bill fucking Clinton. I think he even had the line item veto available to him at the time that the bill was signed into law. I guess he was too busy getting BJs in the Oval Office to worry about shit like this.

The Line Item Veto of 1996 Act only applied to Budget bills

And IIRIRA was shoved into H.R. 3610 - Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act, 1997.
