House Democrats are proposing to restore some undocumented immigrants’ access to public benefits amid rapidly evolving negotiations on their sweeping social spending and tax bill, according to multiple people familiar with the discussions.

The reversal comes after a late-night push by a group of senators.

The House language, which was close to finalization Wednesday morning, would include an immigration parole provision that would offer work authorization and deportation protection to undocumented people in the country since Jan. 1, 2011, and give them standard access to social safety-net programs when they’re eligible, a House Democratic aide, a Senate Democratic aide, and other people familiar said.

Moderates had persuaded party leaders Tuesday to bar those granted status under the bill from accessing most public benefits, including food stamps, children’s health insurance, and other programs. In the latest whiplash of immigration negotiations, a group of Senate Democrats waged a successful pressure campaign to reverse the move, the sources said.

Senate Democrats have been waiting weeks to present the parole option to the Senate parliamentarian, who reviews whether provisions are sufficiently budget-oriented to qualify for the reconciliation process Democrats are using to pursue their agenda. The fate of an immigration package in the deal remains tenuous pending the parliamentarian’s advice and continuing negotiations among the party’s progressive and moderate factions.

Republicans will take over for another 4-6 years .
Everyone one of you reading this better be working on a plan b. If you have daca idc if you had ewi you have a chance now to resolve your stuff your own selves . Stop depending on the government . If you ever needed a sign this is one. If you have EWI get your AP done ASAP. If you have legal entry start dating and start being up front about your status. The is honestly your only way out stop depending on these idiots in Washington who never get anything done. It’s been two administrations later since Obama and nothing has been done for daca , it actually almost got eliminated.

People, listen to this!

DACA will not survive a GOP control house, senate and presidency in 2024. Supreme Court won't come in this time to save the day.

Addressing some apparent confusion,
@SenatorMenendez
says Senate Dems have NOT yet presented their immigration Plan C to the parliamentarian:

"We have not because we don't have a full CBO score. We need a full CBO score to go to the parliamentarian."

Would be glad to. Keep telling that to people like me: mutiple illegal entries before I even turned 10, so AP is a no-go for me. Marriage out of the question too. So excuse us for relying on these jerkoffs in DC who are our only fucking chance.
