Democrats are reportedly being warned to deny that they favor "open borders" and "amnesty" on the thorny subject of immigration and the ongoing crisis at the southern border, as they gear up for what could be a difficult midterm fight for many candidates.

Politico reports that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is recommending strategies to endangered lawmakers as they hope to avoid a barrage of attacks from Republicans on a variety of issues from defunding the police to critical race theory, in addition to immigration.

Included in the documents Politico viewed were moves to rebut GOP talking points. The strategy reportedly included this tip: Democratic should deny support for "open borders or amnesty" and instead talk about their efforts to keep the border safe.

That might prove to be a tricky task, since Democrats have by and large supported administration efforts to dramatically roll back Trump-era border protections like border wall construction, Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) and Title 42 public health protections.

I mean. They’re gonna lose the midterms anyway: amnesty or no amnesty.

That is not a new warning... Dems get issued that warning every election. It is the classic GOP talking points, democrats are the party of crime, open borders, and amnesty.... They are mostly right except none of us has been granted amnesty... make it 3 for 3 dems

All the ads here in Texas are for Republicans and the classic fear mongering warning about Democrats supporting open borders and illegals bringing in drugs. The usual fearmongering.

Haven’t heard a single Democrat but I suppose it would be a waste of time and money to campaign in south Texas.

You know me, I love a good old fashioned crisis at the southern border.

Immigration is really a losing issue for Democrats. I won't be surprised if the party starts moving away from supporting it in the coming years.

It's easy to boast about, and say anything, but I see no one's name being mentioned, sounds more like Media beginning to create a narrative, also the person who wrote this works at Fox News it appears, that most of the article uses Fox news as the source.. sounds to me like .. propaganda trying to create a narrative, and why post it on Yahoo News and not on Fox News, Fake news at work

I remember back in the 2000s, this same thing happened but on steroids .. I suggest you check your sources before you post garbage
