I need to fly domestically for a family emergency w/an expired EAD (driver's lic. tied to EAD expiration as well). From googling, it appears a notice of renewal may be presented for travel. Problem is, it's a border town I gotta fly back from so don't know if ICE will be as understanding as TSA. Anyone run into similar problem?

I flew domestic once with expired EAD date on drive license and renewal was pending but driver license was valid. TSA asked me if I had another ID and I said no its pending. and he let me go.

you can use your passport. As long you have no issue like your are wanted/criminal history or deportation, then checkpoint won't make an issue after brief checkup. I would say try to avoid check point route if possible.

but im sure you will be fine.

expired passport too but I can renew down there before I fly back. Problem is if ICE is at TSA, they always flag passport presenters for questioning. I'll renew passport just in case TSA gives me grief about it, I can show passport
