As a current DACA recipient who is currently working for a startup company as an Account Executive, would it ok to look for a different company to switch to, or because of the precarious situation we are dealing with DACA ruling anytime now, am i better off just sticking w my current company no matter how much i hate it here?

Thoughts?

never stick with one company anymore. those days are gone where you used to retire. time has changed and if you work 5 years in one company its like working 20 years few decades ago. so learn as much as you can, exploit your self, contact other companies and make them offer to give you more and you keep moving with new skills and make more of your self and talent.

I hate when people dont exploit them selves and underestimate their talent and skills.

That wasn’t the point of my post. Because of the daca ruling any time now, we have no idea if renewals will be allowed. In that case, what’s the point of moving to a different company when my ead expires June 2023?

The discussion is more about staying vs looking for different company DURING this precarious times

you don't get my point and clearly said people dont exploit them selves so I won't go into details but answer to your question is in my post. however, stop worrying about daca. nothing gonna happen to daca. if daca ever get terminated you will get alternate solution and most like likely permanent solution. wore case you will have your EAD through alternate solution. daca for 10 speaks a lot. have a nice day

Your EAD expires in June 2023? Are you serious? And you’re just waiting for it to expire then? That’s less than a year left. What are you waiting for? Definitely send a renewal right now ASAP. Then you will get a new EAD with an expiration of sometime in 2025. Even if DACA ends, you will have extra time to tie loose ends and any backup plans.

If i send my ead renewal right now, they will accept the application but won’t approve it until it hits 150 days from expiration. No point in sending it right now when i can send it in december.

I like your optimistic view but i’m trying to be a neutral person here and realize that there is a small possibility of renewals not happening. I do think we will able to continue renewals but we don’t know yet. 5th circuit can decide however they want.

Honestly, I've had these thoughts about my current company myself... but I told myself I'd wait just a little longer until DACA, or something, anything, has footing again.

Luckily, the company I'm with right now never asked for anything other than my SSN... that was 10 years ago, when I first got DACA. So... the choice is stay with the company now and continue as of nothing, or move to another... which might possibly give me better pay, but what if they ask for documentation? Then... what if it's forced to expire. I would have left my current for a temporary higher wage, both gone.

I understand what you're going through, it's very tricky. I'd say wait it out until after the ruling.

But the future is uncertain and what if they do stop renewals? You never know. I would send it now to be on the safe side.

If they stop renewals, then the application i sent won’t be renewed since it would be in pending status considering it’s not within 150 days of expiration. The 5th circuit decision is going to be happening any day now...
