Friends,
My mind has lately been going back to the times we almost got legalized. 2010 with DA (Only 5 democrat votes short), 2013 (Gang of Eight), and Trump Shutdown (“we have a deal” to then voting on multiple bills with only 6 votes short). I remember how exciting it was every time being in the spotlight and thinking we had it in the bag. Unfortunately, as we all know, every effort has left us feeling disappointed and hopeless. To this day, I don’t fully understand why they failed.

With the midterms coming up, most polls are pointing to a Republican control of at least one legislative wing, if not both. Here’s where I am hoping the Republicans win a lot of seats…so many that the next Speaker McCarthy does not have to pander to the extremists and can finally bring some common sense and maturity to his party. Maybe then can we finally have some meaningful discussion about reform and come to some compromise. While the rhetoric is quite elevated right now, both parties willl have an incentive to get to work to show progress to their base. If you think about it, we’ve had more debate and realistic votes on immigration reform during years of split government. We saw no action 2008-2010 and 2020-2022 during one-party control. For reference, 1986 Reform bill was signed by Reagan with a Democratic House and a Republican Senate.

It’s feeling more and more like things will finally be different this time around and the politics will at some point straighten itself out to work on reforming immigration. The pendulum has swung too far out for a long time, it has to come back down to normalize. It just has to.

reform wont come until 2024, everything is red and Trump comes back in office.

he is going to want to pull a Reagan since he has said many times he see him as his role model for politics.

as expected the republicans are probably going to win everything since the economy and foreign affairs are all turned to sht thanks to the fk ups of the demonrats.
