Hey guys,

I live in Connecticut and I absolutely hate it here. I hate the Northeast.

I am thinking of getting off this cold rock and move somewhere sunny and warm in the USA with a reasonable cost of living.

I love Florida but the way the politics are going down there... not viable for us DACA people there right now.
If I had a GC I'd move there in heartbeat.
I don't know what is viable for someone on DACA

Anyhow , what do you suggest?

Don't build false biases based on movies. They are just not true or extremely exaggerated. I have lived in Texas, Arizona, Oregon, California, and temporarily stayed in other states. I have never been discriminated on anywhere or had any problems with DACA. I have always lived in cities, but temporarily had to stay in small towns. The nicest people I have met have been in small towns - so it's another false belief that small white towns are not immigrant friendly.

Strange enough the northeast and southeast are the only places I haven't visited.

I live in Florida and it's definitely a little politically toxic right now with Ron DeSantis being Governor. Overall I think Florida is a safe place for DACA people, as with any state you are going to have certain areas that are more friendlier than others. Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Orlando and Tampa are some of the areas that are most immigrant friendly. I live in Broward, the most democratic county in the state.

I second that. I lived in broward all my life and actually have a lot of undocumented / daca friends who are doing just fine. I moved a little bit north of broward where I bought a house and love it. Good weather , nice people. I just try to ignore the crazy governor and try to ignore everything that doesn’t affect me directly

Reasonable fear, I'd avoid FL like the plague. I'm from Texas but wouldn't want to take a job there atm. I'd suggest Cali. but "reasonable cost of living" may preclude you from going there unless you're renting (wages reflect increase cost of living in my field at least). If NE politics is what you hate, maybe Cali wouldn't be your thing. NM, CO, NV, OR, WA are decent picks imo though not all that warm in winter and opportunities aren't all there. Some people love GA and politics appear to be slanting blue so maybe consider that as well? NC, VA?
