The tension is especially felt in Democratic strongholds such as New York and Chicago, where community leaders and elected officials have spent decades organizing their constituents with limited success.

“Mixed-status families, people who have lived here for 10, 20, 25, 30 years, who have been working, paying taxes, sending money back to Mexico, abiding by the laws, laying low — probably being better citizens than most Americans — are frustrated,” said Illinois Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García (D).

“Because political leaders, community leaders, religious leaders have told them, ‘If you advocate for yourself, if you march in the pro-immigration reform events in Chicago, across the country’ — and Chicago was sort of the spark of a lot of this — that something would happen,” added García.

Advocates for longtime undocumented immigrants are calling on the Biden administration to address that disparity by granting immigration parole to large swathes of the population, clearing the way for them to work legally.

On Wednesday, García and fellow Democratic Reps. Pramila Jayapal (Wash.), Verónica Escobar (Texas) and Delia Ramírez (Ill.) had been set to call on President Biden to grant parole to undocumented or expatriate spouses of U.S. citizens, but their press conference was interrupted by the vote to elect Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) as the new Speaker.

Undocumented immigrants can’t apply to change their immigration status or be considered for work permits. Immigration parole essentially clears an individual’s immigration record, allowing them to file applications to get papers.
You think...?!!! Millions of undocumented immigrants who are homeowners, taxpayers, business owners, heads of households, essential workers, farmworkers do not quality for a single cent if they are injured or sick, but newly arrived people get housing, healthcare, 5yr work permits and they did not think people would notice?

Still, advocates see parole as a powerful tool for the Biden administration to calm the waters between different immigrant communities, paired with ongoing measures to hasten work permits for asylum-seekers and funds for cities to receive them.
Give permits to all Dreamers, farmworkers, healthcare workers and spouses of us citizens and LRs.

Calm people who have been here for decades (while not doing anything for them) so that they can expedite work permits for new arrivals?? Who comes up with this garbage??? People are disappointing because they see that they only bring this up at election time so that they can continue to exploit millions of workers.

Biden is going to get destroyed in the next election, sadly against Trump.

I would love for this but the votes are not there, especially in this political climate. If by some miracle, a bill passes the Senate, it would. be DOA in the house. The Dems have made such a mess on immigration that no one wants to touch it.

It is so obvious that Trump is going to win. Why would they let Biden run again? Dems are f*king stupid. It looks like they can never find a decent candidate.

It's hard to find a single candidate that can appeal to and unite all of the dem voter demographics..

1. Liberal
2. Female
3. LGBTQ........Z
4. Non-whites
5. College graduate

I think Biden won the election because he was not Trump and not because people liked him.

On the opposite side, the Republicans seem to have 1 voting demographic so it is easier to unite

only way is for Orange man to come back. demonrats will never be able to fix immigration because of feelings and interests.

-enforce E Verify at the federal level,
-grant ONLY an EAD to everyone with a certain amount of time being here
-pay a fine
-mass deport anybody that doesnt qualify or gets denied.

automatic citizenship to DACA recipients.

-overhaul the entire immigration process
-extreme veto anybody from countries that are not friendly to the US.

thats it.

I'll always keep on saying it but the legalization 4 all or nothong bullsht will never work. UWD is our greatest enemy for pushing that trash.

seems like RFK is gaining support tho, but knowing how braindead the demonrats are its a fact they wont give him a chance making Fanta man the obvious winner.

That is essentially the DIGNITY act by GOP rep Salazar... As far as GOP bills go, it is not bad because it gives everyone a chance, not just DACA

LOL, this is never happening, especially under a 2nd Trump Admin. Your NPC ass is dumber than a single barnacle on the anus of a blue whale.

The second Trump admin and resulting appointment of federal judges is going to undo years of miniscule progress that was done on immigration and tons of progress done on other issues. They are not going to be known as the admin that gives any group of immigrants "amnesty" in the comeback presidency/second term of Trump. Dems are not going to give Trump an inch of a victory either. It's going to be more of the same with a higher risk of someone like Miller or Sessions smirking as they wipe DACA from existence using the correct procedures this time as ordered by Trump.

Get your head outta yer college degree-less ass, stupid NPC.

Dark times are coming for those of you that are hoping something good will come out of DC or those that think Trump will save you.
