Still Waiting
0 AP
<center>
i came to the U.S. when i was just 7 yrs old.
came in legally with a visa. When i was just
a baby, my father had permanent residency.
He filed for my younger brother and I.
we were issued Social Security numbers but
not valid for employment. Sadly due to my Dad's
actions, he made the stupidest decision ever
and served jail time and had his green card taken away.
By all means, not only did he destroy his future, but
my younger brothers and I as well. Should we be punished
for our parents decisions? I am now 21 yrs old
still waiting for a miracle to happen. It's very frustrating
that i cant get a job, be able to drive or even just identify myself.
The sad part is that a lot of my family live in Mexico. I haven't
seen my mother in yrs. I remain strong waiting and hoping
that someday something great will happen in my life. I study
at a community college. Thanks to my stay here in the U.S. for
over 4 yrs, i didn't have to pay a non-resident tuition. However, all
my classes, books, and materials, i pay out of my own pocket
having to do side jobs because i cant get a real job.
im sick n tired of having no future here. Im sick n tired of having
to wait on American morons who cant see that WE ARE CITIZENS OF THE US.
just because we weren't born here doesn't mean that we can't live
like an American does and abide by the rules. I have never broken
any law or been in any sort of trouble. On the contrary, i graduated
with descent grades from High School and I have been a role model
to many people out there. What really gets me the most, is that
in the beginning, there was never no borders, there was no
separation of people. If they can't remember let me refresh their
memories a little bit. These lands belonged to us to begin with.
They had to come and invade. Yet they pretend like they've always
owned them n shit. I want to be able to fight in this race. I want to
struggle like every American does. I want to be able to fit in and not
live in fear of being caught and having 14 yrs of my life go down the drain
from waiting. Why can't we apply for residency by ourselves?
This just makes no sense. Isn't America the LAND OF OPPORTUNITY?
well.. where are those opportunities? Every day there are drug dealers
and people that mean no good to the US that get residency. What about us?
what about the ones that want to have a better life? what about the ones
that can actually help make a positive change here? What about freedom?
Stop being soo damn blind.. no one is asking for your money!
all we want is to be able to work and live life in freedom and be able
to continue our educations!
The Dream Act is all I and many of us have left.
im sure most of us dont want to marry at 21 or even
younger just to get residency. That is just stupid but yet
the Govt drives us to make those decisions out of desperation.
Yes, You americans always have your points of view. But just shut
the hell up and put yourself in my shoes! what do you say now huh?
what if you hadn't seen ur mom in 5 yrs, what if you cant work?
what if ur not allowed to drive? what if you can't even just
present a Govt issued ID to identify yourself? what if you can't make
it into a college or university because ur not a Citizen? This is bullshit.
and whats with the "Illegal Aliens?" since when are aliens? are we
like from outer space or what? wtf is ur problems? So if any of you
go to Mexico, are you illegal aliens? NO right? so whats the difference here?
just because we were born on the other side of the border
you have the right to call us like that? Fuck You!
its very funny that i've had U.S. citizens laugh at me for
not having any documents because i can spell better than they can,
write better than they can and even speak the language better than
they can. hahahaha If this law does not pass, The United States
of America is going to hit rock bottom. I just know this. People will
go into uncontrollabe rage and if things are bad right now, imagine
if the act doesn't pass? hahahaha
all i know is i can finish my degree and take my ass
back over the border where i came from. lol

any comments?
go ahead yo!

uh.... this is the introduction forum for new members. It is addressed to Dreamers here on the site... not toward Alipac or any other anti-immigrant type of people... So you can tone down the anger

Welcome to DAP, hope we can help each other, looks like you had a tough time like lot of us here.

However, let me just tell you one thing. I understand your anger and the frustration but let's keep the anti-American comments down. When you say things like "America is going to tank if this doesn't pass" it doesn't sound patriotic at all. We all have reasons to be frustrated at the government for not validating us but if we want to be part of this country we have to have some kind of patriotism. It is more than just what you get from the country, it is also what we give...

plus one more thing, the fact that Mexico used to own the land doesn't justify illegal immigration.

Tell me you're not serious.......

And I second every single thing Geronimo said, btw.

Question: By "American", I am assuming that you mean U.S. citizen. If we (DREAMies....which includes yourself) are "citizens of the US" (<---your words) would that mean we are morons too?

Awaiting your response!,

Sunshine, kisses, rainbows, and hugs,

Is that format supposed to make it easier to read? I can't get past the 4th line without going into a convulsion.

^^ I think he wrote in epic poem format.

I understand you're frustrated, but you don't need to get angry at us.
And geronimo is right--Mexicans used to own the land, but not anymore.
You sound like you're starting to hate this country.

give the guy a break. We all had, one time or another, ranted about the issues that he presented. Yes he was vocal and maybe not all his points are valid but he is just angry and depressed like the rest of us. Welcome to the forum dude.

Welcome to DAP, However...

Although I understand ur anger it seems you wish that the country that your parents have emigrated from had ownership of the territories that you are currently in. That makes no sense to me. If you’re so happy with the Mexican government why don’t you just move back there and quit bitchin?
I think most of us are in here because we like (maybe even LOVE) this country (USA). I don’t agree with you and ur anti-American stance. I’m ready to give my life for this country (which includes my friends and family) at a moment’s notice if I have to.

I completely respect and honor ur decision to not whore yourself out for a green card. I refuse to do that as well because I expect this country to WANT me to STAY on my OWN MERIT. If they don’t within the next 8 months - I’m out… But I will always stay an American at heart. Even if I get exiled form this country and my friends and family for the next 10 years I will always remain an American!!! Even if my papers do not say so….

I think our attitude should be of the African American soldiers during WWII. I watched spike lee's new movie "miracle at st.Anna" and it talked about how African American soldiers sacrificed their life in WWII for a country that did not accept them for sake of progress and patriotism. I think same goes for the second generation Japanese (Nisei) that fought in WWII. They may not accept us and we might be forced to immigrate to a different country. However, that should not change our love for this country.

Welcome to the portal.

I agree with you on some points, but I'm a natural-born caucasian citizen here and the anti-america thing kiiiind of has to tone down. If you say you're basically a citizen here from doing all that you have done (and good work, keep it up with school), then why the hateful statements? I totally understand your frustration, believe me, but again, patriotism is the key.

Not all citizens out there want you all gone. I personally love having different races here all the time, learning about their stories, trying to help them any way I can, and most of all giving the support they deserve, as you all do so much for us.

Im sure we've all felt this feeling at some point or another. In a moment of frustration, which I believe we've all had. Doesnt make us any less than others. You just get it out, laugh, and move on because of this struggle we will some day be remembered role models.
