i read around this site a lot over the past few days and i think there is too much emphasis on phone calls and emails. i think we should mobilize people to write letters about our situation to the senators and representatives because letters are harder to ignore. when we phone in we just become another tally. im not saying that we should stop doing those things. i think we should write more letters and get others to do the same. maybe that will get congress to listen better.

Letter writing was used in the last push for the Dream Act. I think we should mobilize and work so that the Dream act is sitting on the table for the next president to look at.

We need some leadership around here from senior members. It seems that the only members that start new threads about doing stuff are the new members. I wanted to get a rally started in NYC but no one seemed interested .

I think it might be lack of motivation because they're not watching congress on CSPAN voting on immigration bills. When that time was going on, this forum was filled with good ideas and campaigns. Don't worry, it'll pick up soon and the bees will be buzzing. For the time being you can still come up with ideas and focus efforts on logically putting together good ideas to pitch when the time comes.

I think the meetups will come as well.

I think what helped the most was definately meeting with senators and the phone calls and that should definately be our first focus.

i think the letters should be our focus. phone calls just make us another tally and do you think the senators really care about tallies? but if they got tons of letters talking about the same subject, it gets harder to ignore. if we can get thousands of people to write letters in a lot of the states, that might get their attention a bit more don't you think?

Basically all efforts are good efforts but some are brought into light more than others. Senators were speaking more about the calls when they were on the floor more often than letters which lead me to believe that they were getting our messages.

We should try all we can to get our voices heard.
But with the elections coming up, it's best to stay low and just observe until the winner is declared on Nov. 5.

Meeting with senators would be the best thing to do as we would be putting real faces to this bill. I know it's really tough for us dreamers to travel from across the country to Washington DC but if we could somehow come together and appeal as one voice, i think it would do it. What if we contacted Senator Durbin and other senators who sponsored DA and see if they are willing to help us organize in DC?

I think we should hold off this next year or at least till the election is over. With that being said I believe our greatest challenge is this... Mobilization.

Since we don't have money, our only political power to influence the gov. is through mobilizing. Question is how do we mobilize all the dreamers out there, there are so many of us and so hidden. If we can mobilize all the dreamers in the area somehow, we can really send letters and call congress in an effective way, then just scattered effort u know?

I am gonna be suppper busy next year with my school program progressing and what not but I am definitely willing to do whatever it takes to mobilize dreamers in the bay area and try to have a club that calls and write letters or what not. But I think it is a real challenge to find them and to get all the dreamers together...
