I know this is one of the rarest cases to go through, but how would one go about getting a private bill? Although my sob story doesn't reach the heights the some of the other sob stories I've heard have reached, I think my accomplishments and my portfolio make up for it. I sound a little vain, but I want to know if this is an avenue. How hard is it go get a private bill passed? Would Gary Ackerman (D-NY 5), Charles Schumer (D-NY), and Hilary Clinton (D-NY) be willing to support me?

Get over yourself already, but you can start by turning yourself in to ICE. That is what all those who had private bills sponsored for them had in common.

If that was the case, don't you think all of us who also have accomplished as much would've tried so?

This would be an impossibility. Despite your accomplishments, it would be a certain impossibility. I'm not sure how accurate that report on that law firm website is. Check out the link below that details the issue of private immigration bills. Its a research report conducted by Congress' own research arm, the Congressional Research Service.

www.ilw.com/immigdaily/news/2005,0819-crs.pdf

Remember Juan Gomez. Sen. Chris Dodd of CT introduced a private immigration bill on this behalf. The bill never passed but it only served to halt Juan's deportation proceedings. Thats about all a private bill will do. In the last two Congressional terms, more than 200 private bills were introduced. Zero were passed.

If you aren't caught in an immigration raid or are not in deportation proceedings, its best not to take this route.

Yeah, that's what I thought all along. It seemed really difficult and seemed like a truly a method of last resort.
