Welcome! This thread will list the actual line up of bills the Senate plans to tackle. One of these days, it will be Dream's turn, but when will that day be?

Quote:
Senate Agenda for the Year 2009

1. Omnibus Public Land Management Act - 200 million acres of wilderness preservation - Signed by President Obama.

2. Second Half of TARP Approval - Passed (the way the original TARP legislation is structured, House approval is not needed).

3. Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act/Equal Pay for Equal Work bill - Signed by President Obama (thanks to dayDREAMer for the notice).

4. S-Chip Expansion- Signed by President Obama.

5. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act/Economic Stimulus Bill - Signed by President Obama.

6. DC House Voting Rights Act - Passed the Senate.

7. Omnibus Appropriations Bill for FY 2009 - Signed by President Obama.

8. Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Battlefield Protection Act as vehicle for Omnibus Public Land Management Act - Signed by President Obama

9. Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act - Signed by President Obama

10. FY 2010 Budget Resolution - Passed (thanks to daydreamer for the notice)

11. Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act - Signed by President Obama

12. Helping Families Save Their Homes Act - Signed by President Obama

13. Weapons Systems Acquisitions Reform Act - Passed the Senate.

14. Credit Cardholder's Bill of Rights/Guns in National Parks bill (ugh on the guns part) - Signed by President Obama

15. Emergency Supplemental Appropriations/Iraq and Afghanistan War Funding - Passed by Congress

16. Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act
Dream can either be discussed as a stand alone bill or as an attachment to a bill already on the Senate agenda. Also, the Obama Administration has a lot of influence on what the Senate agenda looks like.

Stay Tuned for More Updates! Go Dream Go!

REVISED UPDATE:

Quote:
Upcoming Agenda Items:

- Financial Industry Regulatory Reform: Coming Soon.

- Universal Health Care Reform: Coming Soon

- Education Reform

- Renewable Energy Legislation/Cap and Trade

- Comprehensive Immigration Reform

- Transportation Reauthorization

To pass these 4 bill, congress would take 6 week? If it was corporate world, they would get fired long time ago. First 2 bills were absurd. It should take not more then half a day to pass both bill. And, 3rd one (children health insurance), it already passed twice but vetoed. It shouldn't take more then one day to pass. That left with the stimulus bill. It would take them 6 week for them debate one bill? Man, these fat cats get money for doing nothing.

Those are just bills for the first part of the six weeks. It's only been 2 weeks and they have almost passed half of it, and should vote on SCHIP soon. Also they want to have the stimulus package passed by Feb. 13, so more issues will emerge from there.

I still agree, it is slow.

^ Thanks for the tip on S-Chip.

The Senate will vote on The Fair Pay Act Thursday, and S-Chip will be up for a Senate vote next week. Looks like they're doing one week of debate per bill. The Stimulus should come the week after that.

EDIT: Forgot to add that the stem cell bill will probably come up soon after the stimulus.

Official Song picked: Now We are Free from the Gladiator Soundtrack. Imagine the day Dream is signed into law, then we will be free.

EDIT: Instead of the Fair Pay Act, the Senate voted to approve the second half of TARP today per the wishes of the incoming Obama Administration.

And the steamroller rolls on. Senate Democrats passed the Fair Pay Act last week, and this week's agenda will be S-CHIP. That should make next week's agenda the stimulus according to the list unless something comes up.
