First things first, Don't Panic! (ok, I'm a little bit panicked).
Ms. Gillibrand represents a conservative district in Upstate New York, and my hope is that she moves left and more liberal when she represents the entire state of New York. More liberal New York politicians are also promising to primary her (if she is the pick), and hopefully, that will scare her into moving left on immigration and other issues.
Still, red flags galore. There will have to be a lobbying push made for her, if she is indeed picked, instead of taking the NY vote for granted. Ugh, why did Caroline drop out

The thing is, a LOT of NYers don't even know who she IS, how the heck is she supposed to hold onto the seat when 80% of her district are Palinite Republicans? Caroline K would have been able to hold onto the seat and win the special election thanks to the President Obama fundraising machine. |

And I hope you are satisfied with this seat going Republican in 2010, since Gillibrand can NOT win statewide, her district is 80% Republican. |
