This looks like a really good sign that we averted a "crisis" of losing the Clinton support:

Quote:
In particular, she promised to take a lead in promoting a Congressional bill to roll back a federal provision that discourages states from charging in-state tuition to the children of illegal immigrants who attend state-supported universities. The bill also would permit illegal immigrants who have grown up in the United States and are attending college to apply for legal status.

I was about to post this. I think she might help us with Dream after all if Schumer and Durbin can convince her.

And despite her vote in Congress when she was a representative from upstate New York, Ms. Gillibrand said she no longer supported cracking down on so-called sanctuary cities like New York that fail to enforce all immigration laws.

She said she no longer favored the legislation, which would have led to financial penalties for the city. “In a lot of these issues, it’s a case of learning more and expanding my view,” Ms. Gillibrand said in an interview after the meeting.
Looks like she's reversed herself on sanctuary cities as well. That's good. I like what Greg Siskind said about her:

Quote:
Gillibrand Starting to Sound Like a New York Senator Should
But Siskind counselled:

Quote:
Nevertheless, we'll have to watch and see whether words are followed by action.
I hope she really means it when she said she will "take the lead" in promoting the Dream Act.

I have a great video interview of Gilibrand. She might just help our cause greatly.

Is it only me or does she have a really sexy voice?

Quote:
When asked if she will commit to asking President Obama to stop deportations immediately, Gillibrand said, "Yes. I think it's the wrong approach and based on all the information I've now learned, I believe that to be the case."
After an uproar from Latino groups that greeted her appointment to the Senate, Gillibrand is trying to minimize the significance of her congressional record on immigration.
"A lot of these votes, literally, were procedural motions that were taken with five minutes of information given to me about what it says, without the panoply of issues, debate, analysis that I've had the benefit of here," said Gillibrand.
She says her upstate roots put her at a disadvantage when it came to learning about the issue.
"We didn't have the kind of advocacy outreach we have here. Where an elected person can become informed and understand something. I didn't have the benefit of any of it," said Gillibrand.
