So I've been playing around with some numbers and it seems to me that provided nothing major happens, like someone getting caught with a 'wide stance' (knock on wood) we would be one vote away from passing the DA.

Here's how I figure:

Members who voted yea and are still with us (44):

Akaka (D-HI)
Bayh (D-IN)
Bennett (R-UT)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Brown (D-OH)
Brownback (R-KS)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Cardin (D-MD)
Carper (D-DE)
Casey (D-PA)
Collins (R-ME)
Durbin (D-IL)
Feingold (D-WI)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Harkin (D-IA)
Hatch (R-UT)
Hutchison (R-TX)
Inouye (D-HI)
Johnson (D-SD)
Kerry (D-MA)
Klobuchar (D-MN)
Kohl (D-WI)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Leahy (D-VT)
Levin (D-MI)
Lieberman (ID-CT)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Lugar (R-IN)
Martinez (R-FL)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Murray (D-WA)
Nelson (D-FL)
Nelson (D-NE)
Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Sanders (I-VT)
Schumer (D-NY)
Snowe (R-ME)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Webb (D-VA)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Wyden (D-OR)

Members who voted yea but are now gone ( 8 ):

Biden (D-DE)
Clinton (D-NY)
Coleman (R-MN)
Craig (R-ID)
Hagel (R-NE)
Lott (R-MS)
Obama (D-IL)
Salazar (D-CO)

Members who didn't vote, but would vote yea this time around (15):

Udall (D-CO)
Udall (D-NM)
Warner (D-VA)
Shaheen (D-NH)
Hagan (D-NC)
Merkley (D-OR)
Begich (D-AK)
Burris (D-IL)
Kaufman (D-DE)
Bennet (D-CO)
Franken (D-MN)
Gillibrand (D-NY)
Boxer (D-CA)
Dodd (D-CT)
Kennedy (D-MA)

So that's 52-8+15= 59 which means that we'd only need one more senator to vote yea.

I guess that vote could come from Landrieu, McCaskill, McCain, Specter, Graham, Baucus or Sessions (hahaha just kidding)

What do you think?

I'm pretty sure. None of the new senators campaigned on an anti-immigrant platform and as for the other 3 who didn't vote last time it was because they weren't in town.

Also, I just read on another thread that Landrieu is now part of the senate hispanic taskforce so that should really help.

Oh and McCaskill is now a co-sponsor of the CIR bill if I remember correctly.

Obama should have replaced that one republican he appointed into his cabinet with a democrat. John Stewart called him a p*ssy for not doing so...lol

I"m sure gregg stated that he would've rejected the position, had it affected the balance of power in the senate.
