please..i need advice..asap**

my best friend got hit by a car and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. this has killed me knowing this, but she is getting better. my problem is that she is military and is in intensive care in a hospital that is in an army base. they have let me in without id two times before. but yesterday they made a big deal about me not having an id & didn't let me in. do you guys think if i show them my matricula id that they will let me in or do you think they will make a big deal out of that id since it's not a state id. they told me they needed a state or government issued id. i want to see my friend so bad. i hate this feeling. she is going to be in the hospital for awhile and it hurts me to think that i can't be there for her to see her or talk to her. or is there any way that you guys know that i can get a state id in texas. please i need answers..i need advice..i need it fast because i'm going crazy and feeling so hurt.

my advice would be not to show any other id... especially your matricula.... because you are in a government base and they could prosecute you for trespassing..... so if they ask for a state or government id then that is what they want...unless you go in with a soldier that has clearance to go in to the base...that's how i got in with my sister she is in the military...she just showed her military id and they did not ask me for anything....

I don't think anyone is going to be able to tell you with any degree of certainty what will get rejected or what will work. You can either try what you have or even call them ahead of time and ask if it will work.

Sorry to hear about your friend though, definitely sounds like a hard position to be in

Personally I don't think the base will make an issue of it if they are not going to accept the ID, the most they'll do is reject it and ask that you come back with something else. Again that is just my opinion and does not mean anything .

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I don't reccomand you to use a foreign ID though. Just come without an ID again, if they say anything ask to speak with the one who is in charge, tell him that you got robbed and they took your wallet and your state ID was in the wallet and its the only ID you had. It will take time for the DMV to send you a new driver's license and you really want to see your friend and can't want for a stupid document to arrive. I think that they will understand and would let you in.

you can't say you forgot your ID cuz if you say that they just look up your name to see if you don't have any warrants and stuff and when they looked up my name i wasn't in the system.. so that's when they said i needed a state or government id. i never showed them my matricula and my mom told me that they should be able to let me in if i told them my situation and showed them my matricula, but i'm scared because like you said i am entering a goverment base and i dunno.. i'm just confused and i want to see my friend so bad, but i just dunno what to do. i know i can't get an id here in texas.. it really really sucks.

ive gone in a air force base before with a passport, they admitted me as a guest (gave me a guest pass for the day). took my name down and my passport number.

so i called the base hospital just to check if i could go see her with my matricula and they connected me with the army police because they are the ones who are in charge of the gates.. and i asked one of the officers if my matricula is valid to go see my friend and he laughs and goes "if you come here with that id then i will have to report you to INS." so i go, "Oh okay, thanks" ::Click:: lay in my bed and start crying. some people can be such assholes not knowing our situations. ugh.. but thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice.. i guess now i really know the truth. so i'm not even going to try to see her anymore.. this really sucks and now i have to explain to some of my friends that didn't even know my situation why i don't have a valid ID and why i can't go visit my best friend who's in intensive care in the hospital.

im so sorry to hear about all this. i remember when my dad was in the ICU and i cant even imagine what it would feel like if i wasnt able to see him. really, just try to hang in there. i hope she'll be out of icu soon and you'll be able to see her. Things like this just really make me want to scream and shout about the unfairness of our situations. Be strong.
