Hey everyone I wanted to tell you guys my story and ask for your suggestions on what to do. I am currently fifteen years of age and yes I am an illegal immigrant. I was brought here when I was three and have no memory of my life in Mexico. As far as I know, The US is my home. I have dreams of being a successful doctor and hep people but i am having fears that its never gonna happen. I attend a private school that my family pays for using a scholarship. That's the one lucky thing God gave me, smarts. I am generally a happy person but this dawning fear of not atending college is taking over. I have spent the past few nights crying and being extremely worried. Currently, my mom is saving up for filing my petition(shes a permanent resident) but im a sophomore in high school and I feel my time is running out.

Hey... welcome to the forum! I would just like to say that you are in a way "lucky." You're only 15 and only a soph in high school so you have plenty of time even if DREAM doesn't pass this year. You can go to college... there are so many of us who already have and have even gotten our masters. By the time you get to med school (which predominanly accept only those who are legally here, but there have been exceptions) about 7/8 years from now if you follow the general route, I would bet that the DREAM Act would pass by then and you would have no worries.

It is not impossible to go to college; the only thing most people worry about is how to pay for it. What state do you live in? If you live in one of the states that offer in-state tuition undocumented students, then it'd be easier. You say you're pretty smart, so I would think you'd even be able to get some scholarships from schools you apply to. But you still have plenty of time and remember that you can and most likely will go to college regardless of your status. Colleges do not care if you're undocumented... they only care if you can pay for it.

^ To clarify, AB540 allows undocumented students who have graduated from a California high school and have been there for at least 3 years I believe, to qualify for instate tuition.
