Has anyone here gotten the laser eye surgery? If you have, do you mind sharing your experience?

I had it done yesterday and all I can say is that whoever is going to do it better not live too far away and better have a sure driver because you HAVE to go to sleep RIGHT after it's done. Since I didn't have a driver and had to call people, I literally went through some of the most excruciating pain that I have ever gone through in my life. My eyes burned like they had been skinned alive for about 5 hours. I never ever complain about pain so when I do is because it really is extreme pain. The pain was so much that I almost fainted in the waiting room waiting for someone to pick me up but then someone offered to bring me home and everything was better after that.

Sorry for the off-topic post but I wanted to share this with my fellow dreamers and I want to know if anyone had it done or if you want to get it done, consider this as a serious warning.

Thanks guys.

I wear glasses and I might have to get the laser eye surgery if I still want to become a pilot.
Could I ask how much did you have to pay for it, dream 3320?

well let me tell you that it is worth it if you happen to stop liking your glasses and if you want perfect vision without help from glasses/contacts. like i said, make sure as soon as you're out of that operating room theres a driver to take you home right away and make sure u take sleeping pills because you only have like 10 minutes before the numbing drops wear off and then you start feeling like your eyes are an open wound and someones throwing alcohol at them.

Well I did it through TLC which is probably the most known brand to do this and they offer a free exam and they currently have a promotion of $200 off each eye. There's the custom lasik and the bladeless lasik. I got the bladeless because I wanted everything to be done with a laser and I didnt want a blade in my eye so it was more expensive and it came out to be $2,000 per eye but with the $400 discount the total was $3,600. Since I had to be approved to finance it and I didnt have the documents needed, I paid with a credit card so I'll just need to pay the card and not them, but if you have a SSN you could get 24-month financing.

I wanted to get Lasik but I'm scared of the side effects. Are you far or near sighted?

Cool. How do you feel now? How are the results? I've been thinking about it lately, too. I do want to wear nice frames when I don't wear contacts, but I often get mad at my friends for wearing frames without lenses/power. It seems to be a trend now. I think it's more jelousy than anything because I often say, "If you want to wear glasses that bad, I'll gladly exchange your vision with mine.."

Heh!

Really? The pain was that bad? I thought it was suppose to be painless...oh well. I'm scared now lol. I've been thinking about getting it done since I have really poor vision, but I have to wait until i'm at least 21. Hopefully, by then it'll be more advanced, cheaper and painless...thanks for the warning.

I was near-sighted. I couldn't see from far away.

The results are worth the excruciating pain but I would never ever go through it again. I cant believe people actually wear frames with no formula. I bet if they had vision problems they wouldnt want glasses lol.

lol you're welcome, I mean dont get me wrong, it's a great thing because it is such a relief to know that I dont need to wear contacts anymore and the surgery ITSELF is painless but AFTER the surgery, like i said, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SURE DRIVER THAT WILL TAKE YOU HOME RIGHT AWAY! I cant stress how important that is. The only way for the whole thing to be completely painless is for you to SLEEP through the pain and wake up 4 hours later and start putting the eyedrops in right away. If you stay awake, those next 4 hours will be a living HELL for you.
