UCLA Phone Banking Event

The Federal DREAM Act, which will provide a pathway to legalization for undocumented youth, will be introduced in the Senate as an attachment to the Defense Authorization Bill next week (along with the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell)! Undocumented youth and allies are mobilizing, making calls, taking action, and putting in their all to ensure the passage of the bill! Thousands and thousands of li...ves will change... and we believe that you should be a part of a new beginning!

Starting this Thursday (except for sunday), IDEAS at UCLA will be hosting Phone Banking parties to pressure our representatives to vote YES on the DREAM Act. Please e-mail Diego Sepulveda, the IDEAS at UCLA Advocacy Chair, at [email protected] or call him at 323.385.5530 to volunteer for any part of the sessions. We have a large database of supporters that need to be contacted and we need to make sure that they contact their Senators. We also have a list of key representatives we need to target to make sure the DREAM Act obtains the votes it needs to pass. THE TIME IS NOW!

Please bring your own phone! Please Bring your own laptop! Please bring FRIENDS!

**Please spread this to other organizations, listserves

The Phone Banking location: UCLA Student Activities Center (SAC), 100C.

In the mean time, here is the call number and script.

Dial: 1-888-254-5087 and ask to be connected to the senator you're targeting! :)

“Hi I am calling to ask that Senator _______ to vote in favor of the DREAM Act. This bill will allow for thousands of undocumented youth to fix their status by getting a two year college degree or joining the military. This is an investment in our country’s future. Support the DREAM Act.”
