Schock is a fiscal conservative, but his social stance is considered more moderate (Chicago Tribune via Wikipedia). The 18th Congressional district is somewhat conservative with a R+6 PVI.

His advocacy for Haitian adoption could be a reflection of open-mindedness and a willingness to support the dream act. The list of organizations in his votesmart.org bio (http://www.votesmart.org/bio.php?can_id=33428) reflect a leaning towards children and youth. His Caucuses/Non-Legislative Committes reflect a similar trend- citing the Education Task Force as well as the Youth Education and Learning Committee.

He is also a member of the Subcommittee on Domestic Policy. (http://www.votesmart.org/committee.php?comm_id=4053)

Of the 17 bills he has sponsored, none appear reflect any clear position relevant to the dream act.

The list of 256 bills he has co-sponsored that refer to issues related to immigration and multiculturalism are as follows: -Bill H.R.997: English Language Unity Act of 2009 -Bill H.R.1238: To prohibit the presence in the United States of any alien formerly detained at the Department of Defense detention facility at Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. -Bill H.R.2294: Keep Terrorists Out of America Act.
