Re: The Dignity Act 2025 [Hope is Alive!]

Here's what's in it for Dreamers:

Pathway to Permanent Legal Status and Citizenship: The bill proposes a multi-step process for eligible Dreamers to obtain conditional permanent residence, then full Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status, and eventually apply for U.S. citizenship.

Conditional Permanent Residence: Eligible Dreamers would be granted conditional permanent residence for a period, often cited as ten years, and removal (deportation) proceedings would be canceled during this time.

Requirements for LPR Status: To remove the conditional basis and become a full LPR, Dreamers would need to meet certain requirements, such as:

Obtaining a college or graduate degree.

Serving at least three years in the U.S. military.

Being employed and working for at least four years.

Access to Federal Financial Aid: The Dignity Act would provide eligible Dreamers with access to federal financial aid for higher education.

Application from Abroad: It would allow eligible Dreamers who have been deported to apply for relief from outside the country.

Protection for DACA Recipients: The bill specifically includes DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients and provides them with an opportunity to adjust to lawful status.

Repeal of In-State Tuition Penalties: It prevents penalizing states that grant in-state tuition to undocumented students based on residency.

It's important to note that the Dignity Act is a comprehensive bill that also includes provisions for border security, reforms to the asylum system, and other legal pathways for immigrants. For Dreamers, it represents a crucial legislative attempt to provide long-term stability and integration into American society.

Any mention of Dreamers or a baby step is good, but this is being introduced by 2 nobody's in the House. And a lot of this is actually sensible and in a way, a step in the right direction.

None of this is in Republicans' white nationalist Bible, Project 2025, however. No way Dreamers get amnesty.

Unfortunately, that means: DOA

This is a reintroduced bill. It was created by a Republican back in Trump's first term, but backed by the Problem Solvers Caucus as well as several additional moderate Republicans and Democrats.

Immigration bills will start to make their way forward now that Trump's big bill has passed.. If Republicans can find a middle ground that is not considered amnesty, there is potential to get something passed. Passing anything is a long shot, but at least we are back in the conversation instead of the 3-4 years of silence.

The GOP and Trump pushing for passage of this could be a good distraction from The Epstein files.

Or this could be another reason to get MAGAs even more angry, I don't know for sure I hope they see it that way. But sentiment based on people's comments and from members of congress don't look good, the majority are enjoying the ICE raids :-?

The Epstein Fiasco proves Trump Admin don’t give a F about ordinary MAGA distractions

It is Trumps last term and he will do whatever he wants

If Trump wants to legalize DACA, he will and nobody will do anything about it.

In a normal world yes... In today's world I wouldn't expect Mr. Jeffries/Schumer to do anything to stop DACA legalization, they're powerless (Back when Repubs were minority, they were able to block things).

Well, maybe Jeffries can set another 8 hour speaking record.

60 votes are needed in the senate, good luck trying to get votes from senators like Tom cotton or Ted Cruz. This bill is not broad enough for dem senators to support so they are going to vote it down

Everyone work on your Plan B. Stop clowning around and just hoping. Hope is a very poor lubricant to get anything done.

I just drove from San Diego up to LA and have never seen SO many border patrol vehicles working alongside CA Highway Patrol. Saw two cases where they had a car pulled over and both CHP and border patrol were there and this was quite a distance away from San Diego too.

Re: The Dignity Act 2025 [Hope is Alive!]

So incredibly stupid to not legalize essential workers, Dreamers, and provide some sort of legal status to to long-settled undocumented migrants.

They should combine this bill with the essential workers' bill and DREAM Act. Trump and the Democrats have a huge opportunity to fix the system for workers, communities, and employers. Bonus is everyone gets vetted and screened which ensures safety.

It's a no brainer.

Right-wing politicians and MAGA trolls are idiots.

Breaking:
Now, Dreamers just have to wait for Diaper Don's swollen legs to explode and for him to bleed out. Then, GCs will be issued upon his orange stained death.

Waiting for congress to save your hide is like waiting for a tsunami to water your barren desert farm. It might happen, but you should find water yourself. Never count on them saving you. They can't even save citizens from stagnant wages and persistent inflation.

I'm just gonna hit the gym and get me a hottie. There's your path to citizenship. Just costs $30 a month to turn attractive. And if your face is wrong they have brown paper bags. And it's going to be all legit which is the best part when you're in there flexing like Johnny Bravo at your interviews.

That checkpoint in between Oceanside and San Clemente and many other checkpoints from that exact distance to the border have always been there, it is at that calculated distance because they mainly check those who came from Mexico on tourist visa to make sure they have I-94 because without I-94 they cannot travel past that distance from the South border. They mainly stop grayhound buses or cars with Mexican license plates rather than American license plates.

Don't put your hopes on congress. You will die of old age and maybe for the last DACA around who is 100 they just might do something. Just maybe.

Other than that DACA could just be canceled properly now that they have someone who isn't Jeff sessions lol. Love it that sessions was an early supporter and now got thrown out. This will eventually happen to all supporters. Once you are no longer useful you are thrown out unceremoniously.

I'm getting jacked and getting stacked. Already got stared at by a lady at the gym. She wants the DJM.
