If you want to receive e-mails for approvals/denials you have to create an online account with them.

One lawyer wasted my time over the same issue. I got another one who said they were fine and yes I have been approved.

Do not go to Canada (or Mexico, etc) without first getting granted Advanced Parole.

If you do so, you will be disqualified from DACA altogether.
