O.K. so you don't know how it is to be completely undocumented in this country. I personally was brought to the U.S. when i was 10 illegally and i managed to get TPS and i always wonder if it be better just to go back to my home country, but the only reason why i don't is because i think about how much it cost my mom to bring me here. I am not a criminal, i don't feel entitled to anything, shit i can get unemployment benefits but not once have i applied for them. Many people are still in this country undocumented because we know that we can make this country greater than what it already is but if one day i lose my TPS i will not live one day in this country completely undocumented, i rather go to my home country and eat shit than be in a country that doesn't appreciate me. You have never been in any of these people's shoes, you can never understand how it is to be denied everything and every dream that you had or you will have until you are in that situation you will understand that it is not morally right to step on people's dreams like that. And yes i understand your whole thing of "we broke the law" and we did i take responsibility for it but i think i have contributed more to this country than what i have taken away.

CNN article and opinions expressed have some true in them.
I too is illegal. My parents asked for asylum. Case lasted for more than 10 years and was denied. My father, primary petitioner, has passed away and I support the family and my girlfriend. I've been to US since 15 years old and will be 30 this year. I don't know any other country but USA.
You guys have to admit that those who CNN interviewed are tired of immigrants taking over their cities. There are people who really abuse the system and other people and, unfortunately, those people make bad name for all immigrants-legal or illegal.
After reading CNN article I remembered my trip to Stamford, CT and my current Mexican neighbors. Stamford, CT has some nice neighborhoods north off 95 and some bad ones south off 95. House windows have rags and blankets versus blinds or shades, garbage is not organized or cleaned around houses, cars parked like there are no parking regulations, loud music from windows, women walking around with 4-5 kids born year apart, house doors have graffiti, paint is chipping off, etc, etc...
And my Mexican neighbors: loud music almost all day long, blocking the driveway that I PAY for without even asking me or landlord. Their friends come and block the driveway and I cannot even get to them as the music is way to loud for them to hear me knocking on their doors. My landlord beefed with them really hard about it and they don't talk to me anymore, like they feel abused or something. Now they started to sub-rent one of the rooms as I see random people walking in and out at midnight talking loud on their cellphones in the hallway. Also they leave their stroller in the middle of the hallway not caring that other people walk through. The car they have is unregistered, uninsured, with stolen license plate (the owner told me that himself!) oil leaking junk. My landlord thinks that my car is leaking oil on the driveway cement and blamed me until I explained to her that it was neighbors car. You get the picture...
Dominicans used to leave there before and they were really nice people. My sister used to be friends with their kid before they moved and the kid still come over to visit my sister from Florida. My landlord is Puerto Rican and other neighbors are from Guatemala. All nice people. Lady from Guatemala NEVER parks her car in the driveway. She just respects my right as a renter and she doesn't want to bother me asking to park there. Puerto Rican landlord is very sweet and lets me use basement for storage and doesn't charge me at all for it. I fix some little things throughout the building as I appreciate her helping me out.
No one knows that I'm illegal as I never told anyone in the building. I drive so they think I have papers ( even though my license has expired and the car is insured under my mothers name. I understand that if I get stopped it will get ugly for me, but I drive for work to support my family).
Now, if that kind of people would've behaved differently and respect their neighbors and Americans, there would not be so much hate against us. Unfortunately there are less normal people than uncivilized ones and Americans are really angry upon the latter. Americans don't care that sort of behavior is normal in the country immigrants come from. They want all immigrants to live just like Americans do and they are right. It is their country and they are the once who make rules. Put yourself in their shoes.
When first settlers came to US they were all at the same level-poor, many not educated, might not have manners. But now as USA progressed they don't want people who are not at their level to come in. For example, I had friend of mine apartment flooded from upstairs. Nobody answered the door so landlord called cops. They found old Arabic lady who was washing clothes with stones pouring water on the floor. I'm sorry but that's Third World behavior. They don't want to educate families and spend taxpayers money just to find out that immigrants still don't speak English but demand more welfare once given papers. Take Canada for example. It has point system for all immigrants. They only accept educated people who have money to support themselves for first year before they settle. And if legal Canadian resident wants to bring family member into Canada they have to prove that they have enough money to FULLY support their relatives. Canada prospects and America is in mess. Most of US system is abused by themselves but no one talks about it. Immigrants, looking at Americans, started to abuse the system.
To sum, I have to say that we ARE Americans already. We live by American rules, obey American laws, and America is our country just for a fact that we live here so many years and completely assimilated. We DO NOT and WILL NOT abuse the system. We can only give back to America. Americans are not angry at us. Nobody can say that I'm illegal as I act as a person next door. I'm sure that all of you guys cannot be branded as illegals if someone talks to you or looks at you on the street. Somehow there has to be a way for government to come up with a law that separates groups like us and others just like Canada did. DreamAct is one of the laws that makes most sense to all-Americans and us.

P.S:
Some of you guys might not like some things I wrote. Unfortunately it is how Americans think and there is nothing we can do to change it. It's up to those immigrants who make bad name for us. Let's hope for CIR or DreamAct to pass. And God Bless Us All!

My father was an alcoholic, he disappeared a lot of times during our childhood and verbally abused my mother and us. My mother fed up kicked him out, dad moved to USA illegally never sent a dime home. Things got shitty back in Mexico, living in a bordering state we always visited the US and had relatives. After spending thousands of dollars on naturalization through relatives my mother decided to send us live with our father, she traveled back and forth between the US and Mexico, visiting us every once in a while. I lived with a raging alcoholic, my sister got into drugs, I had to go to paint homes and offices with him if we wanted to live in a decent place. I could never bring friends home because he would always be drunk, could never ask him to take me anywhere or he would go crazy, no extracurricular activities, no life. After a few years my mother and my sister received her green card. I didn't because of age issues. My father's temper worsened, they divorced, he committed a serious crime in the US long before I was born (did jail time), not long ago they finally divorced and he left for Mexico. We lost everything we had back there, mother works at wal-mart, sister at a bank, I change jobs every once in a while as opportunities come, we live in a home we rent.

If you think I don't know what being undocumented means then all I can do is LOL. If we were both pulled over in the same car both of us would be deported and at least you could get to make an appeal because you've probably been here longer than 10 years, I've only been here around 8. Same shit.

Dude your father was an alcoholic you know what am sorry to hear that but that's no excuse. My dad was in the Military, he beat the crap out of my mom and cut her head open so she left him, came here, and here i am, i don't cry about it, don't even care about it. All i want is to try to live my life, study, work and be able to do whatever i want.

People know that education equals upper social mobility, people in other countries study hard believing that when they grow up the US will give them a chance to come work to this country and if and if the opposite takes place they will just criticize this nation for not seeing the potential they had. This country is not obliged to bring anyone in and people should not feel entitled to receive something they need because a country did not recognize their hardships and efforts. There are those countries at the top, those in between, and then those extremely fucked. Approximately 1 billion people suffer from malnutrition world wide. It would be nice if the US could play Mr. Savior, save everyone, and educate them, unfortunately that's not how life works. We are competitive animals and under stress we can become predatory, the US is the predator. The US doesn't need to reform their education system, they just go to some country, exploit labor or natural resources, and keep feeding its people.

By the way, I helped my mother take the citizenship test, I taught her some English because she couldn't make sense of some questions, drove her to her attorney appointments because she is afraid to drive on freeways, and even went to her citizenship oath and ceremony where I saw people from around the world and all while I was undocumented.
