This. He will definitely bring a bill up once he wins reelection. However, what if there is no house majority then? Maybe he will pass border security bill first. It will be interesting to see what happens but I think passage of legalization bill is a must after he wins. Those last four years of Obama presidency will be our last hope.

A "must" like it was for President Bush? President Bush was able to get 67 Senate votes for CIR in May of 2006. The House was controlled by Republicans, but the Democrats won control of it just six measly months later in November 2006. Now remember, this is during the same session of Congress, and Pelosi and that asshole of Rahm Emmanuel (when he was in Congress) couldn't bring about a vote on a piece of legislation that had already passed the Senate.

The *real* Dream Act had broad bi-partisan support up until Obama won as president. The Democrats had the votes for Christ's sakes, so that only leaves two possibilities for refusing to pass this legislation when you had the chance:

1) They must be incredibly stupid
2) They are incredibly insincere about their committment to immigration reform.

And the answer is both - with more emphasis on No.2.

P.S. Latinos are starting a national movement towards Independent political affiliation; no longer to be beholden to the useless Democrats.

It's definitely hard to remain optimistic when you read things like this day after day, but hope is all we've got. I'm not willing to give up on him just yet. Yeah, he and Congressional Democrats have royally fucked up immigration reform up, but what other options do we have?

I do know that Obama needs to focus on this issue and get something done within the next 8-10 months or run the risk of losing Latino/immigrant voters next year. These are our family members, our friends and the people that see how hard our lives are because of the absence of a fully functioning immigration system. He promised to work on it, and he's failed to do so. Now, they're angry. They feel used. And they won't vote for him if there seems to be a better option.

What's F***en incredible is that he did not fight for immigration reform in his first years of the presidency; however, he did implement a stupid ass program that is ensuing in the deportation undocumented people with no criminal history: Secure Communities. I think there is a statistic that this program has "accidentally" ensued in the deportation of 70% of undocumented people who have not have committed any serious crimes. Secure Communities was not meant to do this, yet officials are breaking the rules of the program. WTF!!!! Doesn't he see that he is F***en screwing us over?

My only thing is that I don't believe he'll push for immigration reform in his second term if he doesn't do it now. At the end of the day, I'm also seriously considering returning to my home country anyway because I cannot keep staying here for years after graduating college, when I could be making something out of my life elsewhere.

I'm willing to see what Obama has to offer but I'm also considering relocating as well, I'm not letting a bunch of people determine my future. There is just way too much BS and lip service going on with this immigration reform issue.
I feel your frustration. Waiting is fruitless. Therefore, he has to act now. We cannot set our hopes and dreams on 2013. We cannot assume that Democrats will regain control of the House. What if that doesn't happen? Are we supposed to wait two more years then?He has to work with what he has now. He really needs to compromise on this issue. If he becomes cocky and thinks that Democrates will control congress by 2013, that is a huge mistake because he is making all of us wait, and, again, there is no guarantee that Democrats will defeat Republicans. Despite the arguments of political analysts, I am optimistic--surprise, surpise--that reform will happen before the elections if Obama pushes on this issue and gets Republicans and Democrats to compromise. It can happen. It is not impossible.

So, I recommend that all of us be cautious in terms in getting our hopes for 2013 because you never know . . .

People should just stop waiting, cuz in 2013 it is very possible that republican will control both house and senate. Even white house is possible, too.
