Tax hike for CIR/DA makes sense.

Max 5 grand per individual seems reasonable. Don't get ur hopes up high for monthly payments though.. That's very unlikely to happen..

no it doesnt. so you would propose to make a new tax bracket for individuals who are eligible for CIR/DA?

There should be a one time penalty fee of 5k or 10k or whatever. No monthly payment plans. The point is to let them pay a fine for breaking the laws, giving them a path to LPR, give them some conditional period, and then fix up the whole system so there is an end to this. Not punish them their whole life with higher taxes and making it so they belong to some "3rd class" separate from USC's and LPR.

"Secure our borders?"

That will be impossible until we secure MEXICO, not the border. There is some serious shit going on down there, that needs immediate and drastic action.

It just occurred to me that even if CIR doesn't pass and there's a Republican president in 2016, it's unlikely that DACA will be canceled. The Repubs pissed off the Hispanic voters in huge numbers this year and it's simply not a viable situation for them. If the Repubs want to compete with the Dems on a national and local level they have to compromise on a number of issues. But I'm glad to see that they are talking about serious immigration reform this early and I hope something happens within the next year or so.
