Current version of Dream Act would grant conditional permanent residency immediately for first 6 years. Basically a green card. It's conditional because during this period, I believe travel authorization will be restricted to one year if I remember correctly. Also, there will be restrictions on whether we can obtain federal education aid.

If Dems and Reps don't reach an agreement on citizenship, nothing will happen.

If Reps resist on CIR, Dems will gain some seats and oh yes, we will never ever see a Republican president again.

CIR will pass eventually, it all depends on how bad we want it this year and how much we're willing to compromise.

they don't know what they are being so stubborn for. they know they can't deport ALL of us anymore, but what they are pushing aimlessly to do is to create a second class citizen. unless there is a pathway to citizenship to this conditional PR, it is just like having a bunch of people labelled as inferior for life. in that sense, it is against everything what this country is about.

Rubio's plan will take upto 20 yrs to become permenant residence and anoter 5 yrs to become citizen. Hopefully DA won't change at all and will have little eassier way to citizenship, but my question is another 25 freking yers is fair to some whoes been here since 15 yrs?.

Also we all got to remeber this is just starting point from GOP and both side will need compromise to pass real solution to this so lets hope final bill will be better then this.

Hmm, I would hope 5 years is significant, but it might be more like near 10.

I'm guessing you'll have to apply for advance parole.
