I wanted to provide a timeline for my wife's adjustment of status. This forum is incredibly inspiring and helpful for gauging expectations of process, experiences, forms, etc. I wanted to help the cause and pay-it-forward to others for what it's worth. I am the USC and my wife EWI when she was 7 from Mexico. We utilized a knowledgeable attorney through the process of all DACA applications, the AP and the AOS since 2012.

We live in Charleston, SC.

Timeline:

PD - 4.06.17
Biometrics complete - 5.03.17
Interview Ready to Schedule- 5.23.17
Interview scheduled 7.06.17 for 08.07.17
EAD Approved - 7.13.17
Interview (Charleston Field Office)- 08.07.17 (officer said he will approve; told to wait one week for letter and roughly 2 weeks for card)

The interview was very straightforward, we had our 5 year old as well as our 2 year old. The officer was kind and asked about how we met and my wife's AP entrance. We have been together for 8 years and married for 5 in addition to bringing our children with us to the interview. He and I connected due to my job title and honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Our attorney's submitted our joint bank statements, our deeds for our properties (multiple) and a plethora of further documentation with insurance documents of multiple sorts, investments, beneficiary information on all assets, familial documentation proving that we know each other's family, etc.

The one item that I took away from this was that though we had an attorney, we didn't bring them as they are based in Denver, CO. He was explicit in that he appreciated this and demonstrated he would work through the interview more efficiently.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask questions. I truly appreciate everyone's contribution and I will continue to attempt to work for dreamers in my small capacity. There are many in this country who value each of your contributions and I too support your cause and wish the best for all.

Best regards.
Congratulations i was debating if i should take my 2,3 and 6 year to the interview when i finally get one.Do you think the officer was more friendly cause you had your kids with you

Thank you!

Yes, my wife and I discussed this. We do believe that the presence of our children helped the process. Fortunately, they are both well behaved and conversational, thereby taking the edge off of the seriousness of the situation as well. We both felt as though our family was treated better even through security as opposed to the demeanor I heard others endure.

Good luck on your process!

Honestly, not that emotional about it. Just reflective and glad that it's finally over.
Wow congrats! We submitted around the same time, also in Cali....but we are still awaiting interview
How much time between getting the interview letter and the actual date?

We got the letter about a month before the actual interview date. A few days before that, I saw on USCIS that my case status had changed to "Interview Ready to be Scheduled".

The online case status will come before the letter--so check regularly.

Agreed!

@iah: There's a reason why this thread is at 190+ pages. Lots of people with lots of experiences who did your research for you. The least you could do is read through the older pages so all this info doesn't go to waste.

Hey guys, just reaching out because I'm getting really stressed about sending in our package. We have a lawyer so that's helpful, but we just don't have many joint documents. We've been together for 5 years, married for 2. We are in our mid-20s.

I know this is so dumb because I SHOULD know better, but we don't really have many joint things. Not a joint bank account because my H mostly took care of everything. Money I made I kept in my own account, which he encouraged, so I could build a little security nest. He mostly paid for everything out of his own account. We didn't see a need to have a joint account, though we just opened one to start things. We have separate health insurance because we figured it would be better if one of us lost our job -- at least one of us would have steady insurance. No property or assets of any kind. He was always on the utilities because it was easier. I'm so frustrated and also just angry at myself. I've lived in fear for so many years I can't believe I let things get this far without being prepared.

Literally all we have are:

- many photos and supporting documents for a few trips we have taken over the years (flights, reservations, etc.).. we never had a wedding, we couldn't afford one
- joint bank account we recently opened.. hoping to show more activity by the interview
- he is an authorized user on all of my credit cards (his credit is bad so we couldn't do joint even if we wanted)
- leases with both our names for the past 3 years
- he is the beneficiary on my 401k and work group life insurance

To make things worse, he just got a job in another state. He was struggling with unemployment for a while so it was crucial for him to take it (we have a joint sponsor we are working with just in case. we waited so long because he didn't make enough and we couldn't find a sponsor). He does come back on the weekends because it's not too far.

I'm just feeling so scared and dumb and hopeless right now. I feel like I got too "comfortable" (super ironic because I never feel comfortable but obviously I did to a certain extent). It also sucks because we have a real, serious relationship but idk how it may look on paper..

Sorry for the novel... Just looking for some support and/or any advice on other types of documents I show look for or just anything, really.. thank you..

My status says "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview". Kinda similar to what you wrote. Mine has said that since May 11 >_<

Joint lease for the past 3 years is pretty solid evidence. Also any joint tax returns. Even if you don't have much as far as joint accounts, have whatever you can showing you share the address. And if asked during the interview about it, just be honest. Just like you were here.

It's stressful enough just beginning the process. But try to relax. As the months go by (after you turn it in) keep collecting the documentation. Month by month. Put some activity on that bank account and print the statements. People have been approved with much less than what you have.
