You guys are right. Maybe Obama should go back to the Bush policy and just have massive raids in LA's garment district. I bet those people would much rather get deported on the spot without a chance to even say goodbye to their children than be forced to look for another job.

what i'm saying is legalize hard working honest undocumented and deport or incarcerate criminal aliens. At the same time remove all incentives to illegaly immigrate.

And that's not what he's been saying consistently?

I fail to see how he's back-stabbing us.

No, he's not lying or backstabbing us. That would imply he is dishonest. No, he's ignoring us. Which implies he's turned into scum.

DON'T MAKE ME POST SOME SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK UP IN THIS THREAD.

Le sigh, seriously though ... the President can be all sorts of hopeful and make lovely promises. However, at the end of the day he is but one man in charge of the executive branch.

For that immigration bills, look to the Congress. They're the ones that set the schedule anyhow. The great thing about Obama's presidency is that he's using his power to lead, not legislate, as the Founding Fathers intended. Don't even get me started on Bush's signing statements. Let's just say that the Obama adminstration is refreshing after 8 years of Bush/Cheney sticking their noses into the legislative process.

lol like the senator said YOU LIE! lol but seriously

i am on both sides of this i strongly believe it should be enforced but only only to some extent, it has happened to me also i was laid off because i didnt have proper documentation, when i was only working to pay for my tuition. smh i will write to the president about this because this is ridiculous
i came to america to get a better life when i work i get taken advantage of ,called stupid on the job, my family has been made fun of, even the boss joins in but i cant do anything about so i have to endure it all.

i think that the steps obama are taking arent the necessary ones because states themselves are forced to deal with immigration themselves when the country should be doing it as a hole http://www.alipac.us/article4548.html & http://www.alipac.us/article4547.html read plz i did not but the title says it all

i believe immigration should be fixed first then be enforced to stop future illegal immigration this is not right it is pure evil and is madness i cant wait to what kinda of immigration bill that they have put together the laws should be forced on the ones who commit the crimes but i guess its a crime when you come here just to feed your family also . america gives out green cards for the very wrong reason , the government has already stopped me from continuing my education and now pretty soon they would stop me from working and this my friends would happen to all of us, when this Immigration Crackdown spreads through out the country it will hurt everyone and will cause havoc amongst everyone.

P.S i am happy that he is doing this because it keeps me safe and makes me sleep good at night but it is not the right necessary ways to go about fixing a system that has been broken for years

I don't believe that we are victims any more than the undocumented aliens who aren't students, many of which arrived at just as young an age.

If any, we are priviledged to be able to obtain higher education, and it must be also nice for those who don't support themselves, and who don't have to pay taxes. Most illegal immigrants have been taxpayers in one way or another for years. This approach is a cat and mouse game: Make sure you don't get caught, and then you'll be ok. It's bullshit.
