Under DACA, a person brought to the United States as a child – who has not been convicted of a crime and otherwise poses no threat to national security or public safety – may request deferred action of removal proceedings for a period of two years, subject to renewal. To ensure that enforcement resources are focused on high priority cases, the SAFE Act allows the individual to stay in the United States for three years.
SAFE Act has better chances of passage whether BRIDGE Act is attached to it or not because it prioritizes resources, that alone is reason enough to pass it. The bill also prevents the release of illegal immigrants with criminal charges which sounds good in paper and will totally help for passage BUT it can backfire, you can kiss you immigration bond goodbye and say hello to fabricated charges.

Feeling okay so far. Better to start off with temp stuff than we are sorry and can cry you a river but you gotta go.
I think transition team is waiting on the public response to these bills to see how many are totally against this, and how many they'll absolutely piss off. Also, they'll be asking for more funding and/or something at the table to explain the sweet deal he made like Carrier deal.
Hopeful, but not counting on anything yet.

Don't they have to follow due process and be convicted though?

If they are taking about removal post conviction of serious misdemeanors/felonies (maybe same criteria as what DACA has)- it sounds reasonable..

The reality is that Republicans control all branches of governments. People need to understand that anything they offer us, we should TAKE IT AND RUN.

You do know that in some states driving without a license got some people in jail? Are those people considered criminals?

No, they should not be considered criminals. But, you do REALIZE the stupidity in advocating ALL MUST STAY? You do realize that some undocumented immigrants have links to drug cartels, right? So, should they be allowed to stay?

Well, its not up to us to define which criminals are up for deporation but Kobach made it clear anyone arrested for any crime is a criminal

The good thing is that Kobach is not in DHS.

Look, I understand what you and g33k are saying. My issue is with the murderous, drug running sons of b***hes that make the good undocumented immigrants look bad. And, it does not take much for United We Dream or any other advocate to specify this as well--to petition Trump and other political reps, "such and such people do not qualify as criminals, albeit they have been in jail for a simple traffic stops because etc." But, Arguing ALL ARE HERE TO STAY is just lazy, STUPID, & counterproductive . It can be misinterpreted as asking protections for the murderous, drug f***kers.

Probably thousands of immigrants went to jail because of that. Thousands of dreamers too, there is a reason why they allowed people with driving without a license charges to apply for DACA.

Again you guys are getting ahead of yourselves, these will violent criminals. That's the people who get deported. Not people who drove without a license because they could not get one.
